What a fabulous impromptu bread-making lesson with our Year 8s today! 🍞✨

The room was full of energy, creativity, and teamwork as students got hands-on, showing off some truly fantastic skills. From kneading and shaping to experimenting with flavours, their confidence and enthusiasm were brilliant to see.

It was one of those moments where natural gifts and talents really shone through—problem-solving, patience, and pride in their work on full display. A big well done to all involved for making it such a memorable and successful session! 👏😊

Year 8 discovery day ay Blackburn college

Our pupils took part in a range of hands-on activities, giving them an exciting insight into the different courses and pathways available to them after Year 11.

The group represented the school exceptionally well and were a real credit to 8 Fountains, and the wider school community. Well done to everyone involved!

Year 8 enjoyed a fantastic visit to Queen Street Mill

The students stepped back in time and experienced a school lesson from 11th June 1897, practising the '3Rs' – Reading, Writing and Arithmetic – using traditional slate boards and slate sticks.

They were then taken on a fascinating tour of the steam-powered textile mill, learning about Lancashire's industrial heritage and seeing how the machinery would have operated over a century ago.

A huge thank you to the staff at Queen Street Mill for bringing history to life and providing such an engaging and memorable experience for our students.
