HOME ED DAY - 23rd September, from 10.30am

We are inviting home educated students to join us for a day of activities at Binchester Roman Fort!
Come along and meet our Finds Liaison Officers who will show you a selection of Roman and early medieval artefacts. You will get the chance to handle these artefacts and create your own Finds Liaison record, by weighing, measuring and sketching artefacts of your choice.
Replicate or create your own artefact from clay and make your own short story based on the artefacts – write it on a postcard to take home!

In the afternoon you may like to explore the fort with our staff on hand to answer your questions; explore our two stupendously well-preserved bath houses, get crafty in our activity room, or play a few Roman games on our lawn.

Student £5.00
Students must be accompanied by an adult.

Due to damage caused by storm Floris we have been forced to temporarily close the regimental bath house until repairs can be carried out. The rest of the site remains open.
We apologize for the inconvenience.

From 4th to 15th August the first part of the route from Long Lane to Binchester Fort will be closed.
Alternative access from Long Lane will be via the lane to Newfield, taking a left turn at the Queen's Head pub.
Access from Bishop Auckland market place, turning down Wear Chare will be open as usual.
