I had the pleasure of attending the Crowe UK Summer Cocktail Party, bringing together professionals and partners from across Birmingham’s vibrant business community. Crowe plays an important role in supporting organisations through audit, advisory and consulting services, as well as working closely with charities and social purpose organisations to help them deliver lasting impact.

Events like this create valuable opportunities to connect, share ideas and celebrate the contribution businesses make to the growth and success of our city. It was wonderful to see such a positive atmosphere and to engage with so many people shaping Birmingham’s future.

My thanks to Crowe UK for their warm hospitality. I would love to hear what you value most about Birmingham’s business community. 🍸✨

Recently I had the pleasure of attending the Lexus Birmingham Open at the Edgbaston Priory Club where world class tennis returned to our city. This prestigious grass court tournament has been part of Birmingham’s sporting heritage for decades and continues to attract international players competing at the highest level ahead of Wimbledon.

The tournament not only showcases exceptional talent but also brings visitors to our city and inspires the next generation to take part in sport. Supported by the Lawn Tennis Association the event creates opportunities for young people, volunteers and local communities to engage with tennis and enjoy a fantastic atmosphere.

My thanks to all involved in delivering such a successful event. I would love to hear if you went to the tournament? 🎾✨

Today, we mark D‑Day.

On 6 June 1944, thousands of brave service personnel crossed the English Channel to begin the liberation of Europe. Their courage, sacrifice and determination changed the course of history.

Here in Birmingham, we honour the memory of those who served and those who gave their lives for freedom. We also recognise the contribution of our city - its people, industry and communities.

As Lord Mayor, I invite residents to take a moment of reflection and remembrance today. We remember not only the fallen, but also the values they fought to defend: peace, unity and hope.

Lest we forget.

I had the pleasure of spending time with Joan Langley, a former member of the Royal Air Force, over tea. It was a truly special opportunity to hear her stories and reflect on the dedication and service of those who have served our country.

Moments like this remind us how important it is to recognise and celebrate the experiences of veterans who have contributed so much. Their commitment continues to inspire future generations and strengthen our sense of community.

My thanks to Joan for sharing her time and memories. ☕✨.

It was a privilege to join Eid celebrations across Birmingham and witness the joy, warmth and sense of unity that this special time brings to so many families and communities. Eid marks a time of reflection, gratitude and togetherness following a period of faith and devotion and across our city it is celebrated through prayer, shared meals, charity and community events.

Birmingham is proud to host some of the largest Eid gatherings in the UK bringing thousands of people together in parks, mosques and neighbourhoods to celebrate in a spirit of kindness and inclusion. These moments highlight the strength of our communities and the diversity that makes our city so special.

I would love to hear how you marked this special occasion with your family and friends. 🌙✨

I was delighted to attend the 12th Annual Birmingham Thyagaraja Festival celebrating the rich tradition of Carnatic music and the legacy of Saint Thyagaraja. Organised by ShruthiUK this inspiring event brought together talented performers from across the community showcasing music, dance and creativity rooted in cultural heritage.

The festival plays an important role in supporting young artists encouraging cultural understanding and bringing people together through the power of the arts. It was a joy to see such passion, talent and dedication from performers of all ages in a setting that celebrates both tradition and innovation.

My thanks to everyone involved in organising such a meaningful event. I would love to hear what role music and culture play in your life. 🎶✨

I had the pleasure of celebrating the 75th anniversary of Oasis Academy Blakenhale - a school that has supported generations of children and families in Garretts Green.

For decades the academy has provided a nurturing environment focused on learning, wellbeing and personal development, helping young people build confidence, resilience and positive futures.

It was inspiring to see how the academy continues to evolve working alongside the Oasis Community Hub to support families through community activities and outreach that strengthen wellbeing and opportunity beyond the classroom.

My congratulations to pupils, staff families and the wider community on this important milestone. I would love to hear your memories of school life or the teachers who inspired you most. 🎓✨
