UK Uncut are doing a national day of action against the terrifying cuts to legal aid. Is anyone up for taking it on? Details below
Our next UK Uncut national day of action is upon us! And this time we are fighting back against cuts to legal aid- and we need you!
The government is about to launch its biggest attack yet on our rights, freedoms, and equality. They want to completely block access to justice for all but the rich, and they want to do it by the end of the year. For more info see: www.ukuncut.org.uk/blog/october-5th-joi...
So on Saturday 5th October, UK Uncut will be taking mass civil disobedience to show that we won’t take this assault on our equality before the law. We will be blocking roads outside of courts around the country to symbolise that we won’t allow them to block access to justice.
Would you like to organise an action in Birmingham? If so, please list it on our actions webpage – would be great to get some up and running now! ukuncut.org.uk/actions
Some tips for how to organise an action are here (as if you lot need 'em): ukuncut.org.uk/actions/organise
It’s time to get thinking now on how you could organise a creative, fun and inclusive action so grab some mates and get on it!
Please get in touch if you have any ideas for actions, or if you would like to organise one on Saturday 5th October. We’ll help as much as we can to make it happen.
We haven't got an "action phone" number just yet - working on that - but in the meantime send us an email or call us on the media phone (07415 063 231) if there is anything you want to talk through or that we could do to support.
Spread the word among your friends, family and local anti-cuts groups, and let’s get organising!
Legal aid helps so many people access justice who would not be able to afford legal fees- if you want to read more about the impact of the cuts to legal aid see here www.bihr.org.uk/documents/policy/bihr-b...
