Air temp isn’t water temp. Stay safe.

Entering cold water makes you GASP.
Cold water increases your breathing and heart rate, causing PANIC.
Your muscles will get too cold, making you uncoordinated and WEAK.

RLSS UK’s advice is:
• Choose lifeguarded spots
• Never swim alone
• Wear bright colours
• Enter the water slowly
• Get out before you get cold

If you get into trouble, Find Your Float.

It may feel warm outside, but the water isn’t.
Share this vital water safety advice to help keep others safe.

We’ve teamed up with Met Office to help you get for summer.

Many parts of the nation are set to enjoy warm and sunny weather this weekend and over the next week. As many of us spend more time with family outdoors, whether that’s for a run, a waterside walk or an open water swim, it’s important to stay safe.

Before you go, take a few minutes to refresh your water safety knowledge. It could make all the difference in an emergency.

With warm weather forecast this weekend and into next week, more of us will enjoy spending time in, on, or around water, so it’s important to stay safe.

Almost half (47%) of UK accidental drownings happen between May and August, with higher risks during warmer weather.

Keep yourself and your family safe:
• Check for hazards, including depth, currents, tides, and hidden underwater objects.
• Stay together and swim in lifeguarded areas.

In an emergency:
• Call 999 immediately
• If you fall in or become tired, stay calm, float on your back, and call for help

Did you know? 🌊
Drowning is the #1 cause of death for children ages 1–4 — surpassing car accidents, falls, and everything else.
Not something that happens "somewhere else." It happens in backyards, community pools, and bathtubs. The scariest part? It's almost always silent. No splashing. No screaming. Just seconds.

But here's what gives us hope: it's preventable. Education saves lives — and it starts with knowing the risk.
