The total distance is approximately 20km or 12.5 miles with 250ft uphill and downhill. It takes about 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes to compete without stops. The route follows bridleways, fields and gravel paths with some on road sections. It may be muddy after heavy rain. Suitable for those with a moderate fitness level and more confident riders.

Recommended stops:

History Lovers can stop at Trow Pool Water Tower, former RAF Ardley Airfield and two 12/13th century churches: St Mary’s, Ardley and St Peter’s, Bucknell. Heyford Park, Ardley & Fewcott Village Hall have children's play parks. There are several refreshment stops along the way: The Baton Cafe & @455 bar , and , Bucknell.

Approximately 20km or 12.6 miles with 250ft uphill and downhill. It takes about 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes to compete without stops. This is a slightly more challenging route due to it's length. The ride is mainly on road but following quiet country lanes outside of town. Suitable for those with a moderate fitness level and more confident riders.

Recommended stops:

You can stop for a play or picnic at Caversfield Park or Stratton Audley. If history is more your thing, the Church of St Mary & St Edburga dates back as far as the Vikings. Enjoy the view from Tower Hill just past Poundon or wildlife spot at Island Pond Wood Nature Reserve in Launton. Stop for refreshements at The Hundred Acres Pub, (0.5km, 2 min detour past the woods) and Inn.

At approximately 9km or 5.6 miles it takes about 35-40 minutes to compete. The route is relatively flat with little/no hills. Much of the route is on designated cycle or shared pathways with a small amount of on road cycling. Suitable for most skill levels but may not be suitable for young children on their own bikes.

Recommended Stops:

Consider stopping at Bure Park Nature Reserve or Kingsmere Open Space & Reservoir. Sheep Street & Market Square has several great independent shops, restaurants and a bustling . and Bicester Avenue Garden Centre also have a great selection of shops and food outlets. The Acorn and Pub are both also on route for a mid-ride refreshment or post cycle meal.

Please note: no cycling is allowed on sheep street on Market day. Please always cycle responsibly through busy pedestrian areas.

Approximately 25km or 15.5 miles with 125ft uphill and downhill. It takes about 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours to compete without stops. The route is relatively flat with little/no hills. Much of the route is on quiet and gravel roads and bridleways. There is a small amount of on road cycling. This route is a little too bumpy for standard road bikes due to a few unpaved sections.

Recommended Stops:

The views and village stops are the highlights of this ride and there are plenty of excellent pub stops including: , Murcott ,The Crown Inn, Charlton-On Otmoor and Wendlebury. Bicester Avenue Garden Centre Cafes and Restaurants & Cafes are both on route. Charlton-on-Otmoor has a lovely little play park and field and you can also stop to spot wildlife or picnic at Woodsides Meadow Nature Reserve.

At approximately 5.5km or 3.5 miles with 50ft uphill and 50ft downhill, it takes about 20-25 minutes to compete. This is an easy, quiet and largely off-road route on paved tracks and suitable for all skill levels.

Recommended stops:

Why not stop for coffee or local Gin at Bicester Motion. Alternatively, stop at Bure Park local centre for coffee and cake at Cafe or something more substantial at Pub. At Glory Farm, you can stop for a drink at The Hundred Acres Pub. To extend the fun, try stopping at Bure Park Nature Reserve, Spider and Spitfire play parks or Southwold Play Areas with the kids.

From Langford to Graven Hill, it is 7km/4.3 miles with 50ft up and 50ft downhill. It takes approximately 25-30 minutes without stops. This is an easy bike ride and is a great cycle for all skill and fitness levels with mostly paved surfaces.

Recommended stops: Start with a coffee and cake at (Graven Hill) or (Langford). Or why not finish with a refreshing drink and Street Food at (Graven Hill) or catch a Sunday Roast at .bicester (Langford). Spot wildlife at Gavray Wildlife Meadows or Jubilee Lake or stop for a play at Mallards Play Park. You can also visit Stone Henge, have a picnic in Langford Park or join a Saturday morning .

Approximately 2km or 1.35 miles with only 25ft up and downhill, this routes takes 8-12 minutes to complete without stops. This is probably the best place in Bicester to learn to ride with well surfaced shared paths and a nice open park.

Recommended stops: Why not combine the rise with a play stop at Whitelands Farm or Kingsmere Play Park areas. Kids still full of energy? Join in with . Alternatively, cross the road from Whitelands Recreation Area and walk around the reservoir and spot birds and other wildlife. For refreshments, try or bring a picnic.

🚴🚴‍♀️🚒 Pedal for Purpose Cadet Cycle - Sunday 28th September🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚒

Bicester Fire Cadets are taking on the Pedal for Purpose challenge, cycling between Oxfordshire Fire Stations to raise funds for a great cause. Along the way, they'll be meeting and networking with the other Cadet Units - building connections and community spirit 🔥🤝

Your support along the route would mean the world to them. Come out and cheer them on!

📍Timings & Locations:

*11:15 - Slade Fire Station
*12:45 - Rewley Road Fire Station
*14:15 - Kidlington Fire Station
*17:30 - Regroup on Sheep Street and return to Bicester Fire Station
