🚨 This is one of the most valuable tips for your job interview!

Most people think the interview is over the moment they stop answering questions, but that last part, where they ask "do you have anything for us?" is actually really important ✋

Saying "no, I think I'm good" or the wrong thing can quietly cost you the job. Asking the right questions to ask at the end of an interview shows you're genuinely interested in the role and that you have done your homework.

At Routes to Work, our training team helps you prepare for every part of the job interview process, not just the obvious bits. Whether you're just starting your job search or you've already got an interview lined up, we offer free interview help in North Lanarkshire to make sure you're ready when it counts.

Get in touch to find out how we can support you in finding jobs in North Lanarkshire & beyond and how to ace those job interview questions.

"It really makes a massive difference, and it finally feels like things are falling into place...giving me the financial stability to provide my son with everything he needs."

When Ben moved from Plymouth to Scotland, he was starting from scratch with very little support around him. As a single dad, he was juggling childcare, isolation, employment barriers and the pressure of building a stable future for him and his son. A criminal record, no Scottish qualifications, transport challenges and low confidence meant Ben often felt judged before he'd even had the chance to show what he could do.

That's when our Working for Families team stepped in, offering back to work support tailored entirely around Ben's circumstances. Through one-to-one sessions, his caseworker helped him build his confidence, update his CV, prepare for interviews and explore childcare options, proving that help getting a job with a criminal record and being a single parent is absolutely possible with the right support behind you.

With support from his caseworker and our Employer Services team, Ben was put forward for a third sector placement. After a mock interview and some encouragement behind him, he was offered the role.

Ben now has a hopeful future and a renewed sense of confidence for him and his son.

If you're a parent in North Lanarkshire facing similar barriers, we can offer the same help to get into work, whether that's finding single parent jobs that fit around your family or simply knowing where to start.

Our Working for Families team provides free employment support for parents in North Lanarkshire and this could be your story too.
