The team were out and about today, visiting Strabane Library and raising awareness about our services. It’s always brilliant to speak to local people about our free, independent and impartial complaints service. Next week we are in Newtownstewart Library (Thursday 3rd September, 2pm-3:30pm), so please come along to learn more about how complaints can improve services for everyone.

We’re at Pride Village today! Come and have a chat with the team, ask us a question, or find out how we can help.

We’re celebrating the MyHomeLife Northern Ireland Leadership Support Programme graduation today.
Over the past 10 months care home managers have strengthened their leadership skills, shared learning, and worked together to build positive cultures that improve the lives of residents, families and staff - something we support through our work to improve public services across Northern Ireland.
Come say hello at our info stand and congratulations to all today’s graduates.

Yesterday, NIPSO launched the new Model Complaints Handling Procedure (MCHP) for Central Government and Arm’s Length Bodies.

The launch was an important event bringing together professionals from across Northern Ireland's public sector to explore ways to strengthen learning and improvement through complaints.

Thank you to our guest speakers who contributed to the event.
The Launch reinforced the importance of an open, person-centred approach to complaints, focusing on listening, early resolution and learning when things go wrong.

Frances McCandless, CEO of the Charity Commission reminded us about the importance of culture. Staff should be empowered at all levels to apologise on behalf of others within their organisation. Frances’ underlying message was “to not fear complaints, they are crucial to understanding issues within our services”.

Thanks to Andy McCaw from The Executive Office (TEO) for speaking at today’s launch of the Model Complaints Handling Procedure (MCHP) for government departments and arm’s length bodies.

Reflecting on the benefits of the new approach, Andy said the new approach will resolve what can be handled quickly, investigate thoroughly where needed, and keep service users front and centre, helping to create a more consistent complaints experience across the public sector.
