This coming week, Monday 7 September - Friday 11 September, is Rural Crime Week 2026.

Throughout the week we will highlight the types of crimes that affect our rural communities and explore the ongoing work of police and partners to tackle it.

Ahead of the launch of Rural Crime Week tomorrow, we want to introduce you to the individual organisations who make up Northern Ireland’s Rural Crime Partnership (RCP).

The RCP is made up of representatives from Police Service of Northern Ireland Department of Justice NI .gov.uk Ulster Farmers' Union Young Farmers' Clubs of Ulster FSB Northern Ireland Mutual and Policing and Community Safety Partnerships

Members of the Partnership work together to tackle rural crime and support rural communities across Northern Ireland. It provides a mechanism for police and rural-focused organisations to come together to identify the issues which directly affect our rural communities, highlight any trends in criminality, devise strategies and programmes to specifically address the concerns and priorities of rural communities, and prevent crime to help our rural communities feel safer.

The law about fireworks is clear - it is illegal to possess, sell, handle or use fireworks if you do not have a licence. You can be fined up to £5,000 for breaking the law.

Stay safe and make sure you only buy fireworks from a licensed seller and that you are licensed to use them.

Police are concerned for the whereabouts of missing 16 year old female, Paris Williams. Paris was last seen in the area of Divis Street at approximately 0300 hours on Saturday 29th August. Paris is approximately 5ft tall, slim build with short dark hair and was last observed wearing a black hoodie, black leggings and a white bandana.

We have unfortunately seen a number of incidents involving young people on e-bikes and e-scooters. Some have resulted in serious injuries.

Yesterday there was another incident in North Belfast.

Parents and guardians, please stop buying these for your children or allowing their use they are dangerous and often classed as motor vehicles.

If they are classed as motor vehicles they require:

- A valid driving licence to ride
- Insurance
- Resgistration
- Compliance with road traffic and construction & use regulations

There can be serious legal consequences for those caught.

If a vehicle is seized because it is being used without insurance, it can be subject to destruction after 14 days unless the owner applies to the court, at their own expense, to seek its return.

Don't risk your safety, someone else’s, your vehicle or your driving licence

Police in north Belfast are urging the public to be vigilant after a report of a rogue trader cold-calling to a home in the Strathmore Park North area on Wednesday 26th August.

Shortly after 3:15pm, a female resident was told she had to pay for work that had not been completed. The female did not provide any money and a family member attended to offer support.

Enquiries are ongoing, and in the meantime police would urge the public to remain vigilant.

Inspector Hamilton said: “Most callers are genuine, however, a small number of criminals can take advantage of older or vulnerable people on their doorstep.

“Criminals will sometimes pose as staff from utility companies to gain access to your home or your details, whereas genuine staff will always carry clear identification and be happy to show it to you.

“We want to take this opportunity to urge everyone to report any suspicious activity to police, particularly of strangers offering unsolicited services or trying to gain access to homes.

“The sooner you contact us, even if it is on the behalf of others, the better our chances are of catching a potential criminal.

“Remember, if it's your home and you have any concerns, its okay not to open the door. You can speak to the person through the door or window, without actually opening the door to them.

Yesterday your local police arrested a female in connection with 13 separate thefts from B&M Bargins in North Belfast.

This female has since been overnight charged to court.

We know theft has a real impact on victims and businesses. We will continue to take positive action against those involved in persistent offending.

MISSING PERSON

Police are becoming increasingly concerned for the safety and well-being of Missing young person Carson Graham pictured below, Carson was last seen on Sunday 23rd August 2026 in the Holywood area at 6pm and it is believed he may have travelled to Belfast.

Carson is described as 5"5, slim build, short hair, wearing a black puffer coat, black tracksuit bottoms, white and grey Nike trainers.
