Across the UK Civil Service community, colleagues and senior leaders are getting behind Mega Miles and moving their way this June.

This week, we’re spotlighting the North East Together Team. On Wednesday they had two group walks from Benton Park View and Waterview Park all to help raise vital funds for civil servants and their dependants when life gets tricky. They also boosted their fundraising with a bake sale which raised £157.

Their support is part of a wider UK wide effort, bringing people together through movement, fundraising and shared purpose.

Every mile brings someone one step closer to free, confidential support when they need it most.

A big thank you to our Supporting Partner Baringa, who will match fundraising pound for pound up to £5,000, helping your support go even further.

If you're a member of the UK Civil Service and facing unexpected costs that you can't cover, we may be able to help.

For the last 140 years since we started in 1886, we've been helping civil servants and their dependants financially. In 1886 the Charity supported a widow with a gift of £10 (equivalent to £1,687.15 today) and since then we have continued to give financial grants to civil servants in need.

Balancing caring responsibilities with a full-time role can be demanding, especially when support feels hard to find.

Lee cares for family members with disabilities while working full time as a civil servant. For him, knowing the Charity for Civil Servants is there has made a real difference. “Their resources are first class, their website is accessible and it’s reassuring to know they’re there if I need them. It’s like a safety net.”

As a Mental Health First Aid instructor, Lee encourages others to seek help too. “The Charity has given carers within the UK Civil Service a voice of their own. By donating, you’re investing in yourself and making a difference to others.”

For 140 years, the Charity for Civil Servants has supported people who quietly care for others alongside their working lives.

If you are a civil servant with caring responsibilities, support is available. And if you are able to, supporting our work helps ensure that safety net is there for others too. Donate now https://ow.ly/IMWb50Z2A0r

We'll also be delivering a fantastic session 'The Power of Healthy Relationships' at 9am in the Harris Suite or 12:30pm in the Fintry Auditorium. It's our 140th anniversary and on Wednesday, around 140 colleagues at the UK Government Regional Centre, Queen Elizabeth House in Edinburgh stepped out for Mega Miles, showing how the UK Civil Service community is coming together across the UK.

Whether people are walking, wheeling, running, cycling or moving in another way that works for them, every mile helps fund free, confidential support for civil servants and their dependants.

The walk was a brilliant reminder that Mega Miles is not just about distance. It's about colleagues coming together, supporting each other and helping make sure no civil servant faces life’s challenges alone.
