Dear Parents and Guardians and Friends of St Matthew’s,

We are delighted to invite you to join us for a very special Anniversary Concert, as we come together to celebrate three remarkable milestones in the history of St Matthew’s and Catholic education in the Short Strand:

150 years and more of Catholic education in the Short Strand, 40 years since the amalgamation of St Matthew’s Boys’ and Girls’ Schools, and 30 years in our beautiful school building.

These milestones tell the story of generations of children, families, staff and our wider community who have made St Matthew’s the special place it is today.

Our children are working incredibly hard to prepare a wonderful performance to mark this historic occasion. Their concert will be a celebration not only of our past, but of the beautifully diverse and vibrant St Matthew’s family of today and our hopes for the generations still to come.

This is a truly special moment in the history of our school and one which we know we will look back upon with enormous pride.

We warmly invite our parents, guardians, families, past pupils and friends of St Matthew’s to join us as one united St Matthew’s family to celebrate our shared history, our wonderful children and the community that has supported our school throughout the generations.

We very much hope you will be there to share this momentous occasion with us and help us create another treasured memory in the story of St Matthew’s.

These practical courses will help you understand more about autism, the visuals you can use to support your child and explore ideas to connect and interact with your child in a neuroinclusive way.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are delighted to be further enhancing our school provision with the introduction of Ruby Roos Wraparound Childcare, offering after-school clubs and childcare until 5.00pm each evening.

Combined with our school Breakfast Club, available from 8.00am in the school canteen, this provides a comprehensive wraparound service for families who require additional childcare throughout the school day.

We are delighted to be able to offer this enhanced provision and hope it will provide valuable support, flexibility and peace of mind for our families.

🍽️ New School Dinner Menu 2026/27

We’re pleased to share our new school dinner menu for the 2026/27 school year! 🎉
The menu runs on a weekly rotation, giving children a variety of tasty and nutritious meals throughout the school year.

📅 Please note, each menu is dated, so we recommend that parents save the menus to your phone/device so you can easily check what’s being served each day.

Mrs O’ Neill and the staff of St Matthew’s Primary School and Nursery are really looking forward to welcoming our children back tomorrow, Wednesday 26th August 2026, 8:45 a.m. 🎒✏️

Our Primary 1 children and Nursery children have been issued with their own individual start dates and times. Please make sure you have a read through the two emails that have been sent, as these contain more detailed information and advice!

We hope everyone has had a lovely break and is ready for another happy, busy and exciting year at St Matthew’s! 💙

We are kindly asking parents and families to donate any school uniforms that are no longer needed or used. Your donations could make a real difference to another family in our school community. 💙

If you have any good-condition uniforms you would like to donate, please leave them at the Front Office today or tomorrow.
