Well, while Facebook continues to doss about with the name, I should probably say to absolutely nobody's surprise that I'm running for a full time position at QUBSU.

As Campaigns and Engagement officer, I will be able to make all the campaigning and organising that I've done during my time here look like nothing. If you've ever thought I've done a good job, whether it was through the referendum to support the UCU or the creation of the Autonomous Students' Group, whether it was campaigning for Refugees' safety or fighting for tenants rights, whether it was standing directly against fascist militants or playing an active role in the West Bank, then you're gonna be absolutely in love with whatever I can do with the SU behind me.

There is already a strong team of Socialists, Antifascists and Climate Activists behind me but if you want to fight for a socialist candidate that will prioritise the democratic will of the student body and bring back the culture of protest and the genuine political power of the students then shoot me a message, we'd love to have you involved!

If we're gonna have any success in generating a movement we need as many solid heads representing you on the all student council. I can say for a fact they'll be fighting for you. Whether you have issues as a renter, struggling with mental health, frustrated at QUB's dodgy investments in fossil fuels or human rights violating companies, these individuals will represent you.

Vote these 7am to 10pm on Thursday 14th October

Looks like we're back at it again.

On Thursday 14th October from 7am to 10pm I'm asking you to, once again, take the time out of your day to vote for me as Environmental Officer.

I'm not gonna lie, the Students Union is going to struggle to be a vehicle of genuine change by itself. That's why we need to be empowering students to take action into their own hands by providing the skills and training needed to act against the unethical investments and ties that QUB has. We need to be facilitating groups with a solid base in activism to engage more with students. We need to be to engage with non student groups such as Residents Collectives, Renters Unions, Environmental Activist organisations not just in Belfast but from every and any source we can find.

Right now, our identities are dividing us. In Belfast more than anywhere. I will make sure that anyone, regardless of background and regardless if I disagree with you on 90% of issues, will have a place for them in the movement and I will try and learn from the varying experiences of the people in our university rather than mocking and arguing.

The change we need is revolutionary and no one in the status quo can give it to us. We have to take it ourselves.
