From two ships and fewer than 1,000 visitors...

To 150 cruise calls and 300,000 people a year.

Today marks 30 years since Belfast Harbour began welcoming cruise ships back to our shores.

Over three decades, cruise tourism has become a major success story for Belfast, contributing £26 million annually to the local economy and introducing millions of visitors to our city, region and people.

This milestone belongs to the many partners and stakeholders who have worked alongside us to make Belfast a world-class cruise destination.

Thirty years on, we are proud of how far we've come and excited for what lies ahead.

Here's to the next chapter. 🚢

Today, on , we pay tribute to the UK's Merchant Navy and the generations of seafarers who have served our nation.

From supporting global trade and economic growth to maintaining vital supply lines in times of conflict, Merchant Navy seafarers have played an essential role in keeping the UK connected with the world.

We thank all those who serve at sea, past and present.

Belfast Harbour Police said: "We are working closely with Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, and staff of Clearway Disposals, following the out break of a fire at its scrap metal recycling facility in the Harbour Estate. We would advise local residents and surrounding businesses to keep windows and doors closed, as a precautionary measure and for people to avoid the area."

If you're seeking some outdoor fun this Bank Holiday, take a bit of time out to explore Belfast's historic waterfront and find out about its wildlife on the Blueway Trail!

The trail begins next to the pontoon at AC Marriott Hotel at City Quays, crosses the Lagan Weir, and continues along the waterfront, across to Belfast Harbour Marina, before concluding at Titanic Hotel Belfast. Each stop is clearly marked on a downloadable map available at maritime-mile.com, where participants can find clues and fascinating insights into Belfast's natural heritage and maritime environment. Answers to the clues can be found on different interpretation panels along the trail.

Another very special week, as the first-ever visit of the Seadream II on Tuesday also coincides with the day the entire SeaDream Yacht Club family celebrates its 25th anniversary!

We’ll also have welcome returns for a host of other well-known names as we transition into the Autumn phase of this year’s cruise season after what has been another very busy summer schedule.
