Se stai pianificando un viaggio nel Regno Unito, ricorda che è obbligatorio richiedere l’ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) prima della partenza.
L’obbligo riguarda anche i cittadini italiani ed europei che soggiornano fino a 6 mesi.

Non è un visto, ma un’autorizzazione elettronica da richiedere online tramite app o sito ufficiale del governo britannico:

Che serata straordinaria ieri sera al Belfast Grand Opera House per Il Barbiere di Siviglia, presentato da Lyric Opera Ireland in partnership con il Grand Opera House, con il supporto Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Edimburgo!
Come Corrispondente Consolare, è stato un onore e un piacere essere presente a un evento di così alto livello culturale, insieme a Federica Ferrieri. Un ringraziamento speciale va a Stefano De Angelis, nuovo Direttore dell'Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Edimburgo, che ha voluto essere presente sin dai primissimi giorni del suo mandato, un segnale bellissimo dell'attenzione che l'Italia riserva alla sua comunità e alla sua cultura all'estero.
Ed è stato davvero entusiasmante incontrare Vivian J. Coates, Direttore Artistico di Lyric Opera Ireland, e suo marito al termine dello spettacolo, persone di grande calore e passione per la musica.
Serate come questa ci ricordano quanto la cultura italiana sappia unire, emozionare e lasciare il segno ovunque nel mondo.

What a memorable evening last night at the Belfast Grand Opera House for The Barber of Seville, presented by Lyric Opera Ireland in partnership with the Grand Opera House, with the wonderful support of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Edimburgo!
As Honorary Consular Correspondent, it was a true honour and a pleasure to attend such a remarkable cultural event, together with Federica Ferrieri. A heartfelt thank you to Stefano De Angelis, the newly appointed Director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Edinburgh, whose presence from the very outset of his tenure speaks volumes about his commitment to promoting Italian culture across the region.
And it was truly thrilling to meet Vivian J. Coates, Artistic Director of Lyric Opera Ireland, and his husband at the end of the performance, both wonderful people whose warmth and passion for music are simply infectious.
Evenings like this remind us of the extraordinary power of Italian culture to bring people together and inspire.

🇮🇹 Ieri sera ho avuto il piacere di rappresentare la nostra comunità in veste di Corrispondente Consolare al lancio della nuova direttiva della PSNI (Police Service of Northern Ireland) riguardante la gestione delle informazioni tra polizia e Home Office.

Il messaggio centrale dell'evento, promosso insieme alla Victims’ Commissioner, è stato netto e potente: il supporto alle vittime deve sempre avere la priorità sullo status migratorio. Troppo spesso, la paura o la diffidenza spingono le persone più vulnerabili a restare nell'ombra, permettendo ai criminali di usare lo status burocratico come arma di ricatto. Nessuno dovrebbe mai sentire che chiedere aiuto alla polizia sia più rischioso del crimine subito, che si tratti di sfruttamento o violenza.

È stato estremamente interessante ascoltare il Vice Capo della Polizia Bobby Singleton e la Commissaria Geraldine Hanna. Il loro impegno per un approccio "centrato sulla vittima" è un passo avanti cruciale per garantire che ogni residente in Irlanda del Nord si senta protetto e ascoltato.

Come Corrispondente Consolare, ritengo che questo dialogo aperto sulla sicurezza dei dati e sulla trasparenza sia la chiave per abbattere i muri del silenzio e garantire una giustizia davvero accessibile a tutti.

🇬🇧 Last night, I was pleased to represent the Italian community as a Consular Correspondent at the launch of the PSNI’s new service instruction on information sharing with Immigration Enforcement.

The core message delivered by the event, hosted in conjunction with the Victims’ Commissioner, was clear and powerful: victim support must always take priority over immigration status. Too often, fear of deportation or lack of trust keeps vulnerable people in the shadows, allowing perpetrators to use someone's status as a weapon. No one should ever feel that seeking help from the police is more dangerous than the crime itself.

It was extremely interesting to hear from Deputy Chief Constable Bobby Singleton and Victims’ Commissioner Geraldine Hanna. Their commitment to a "victim-first" approach is a vital step toward ensuring that every resident in Northern Ireland—regardless of their background or paperwork—feels protected and heard.

As a Consular Correspondent, I believe open dialogue on data security and transparency is essential to dismantling barriers and ensuring justice is accessible to all.

I was delighted to join the celebrations for the 77th Republic Day of India in Belfast, organised by the Consulate General of India.
My sincere thanks to the Acting Consul General of India, Mr VVS Rama Krishna, for hosting such a warm and dignified evening that brought together the Indian community and friends of India from across Northern Ireland. The reception brought together esteemed guests, including the Lord Lieutenant, Dame Fionnuala Jay-O'Boyle DBE DStJ, Junior Minister Joanne Bunting, and many other distinguished attendees from the diplomatic corps, local government, business, and civil society.
Republic Day commemorates the adoption of India's Constitution on 26 January 1950, a momentous occasion that marked India's emergence as a sovereign democratic republic. It was inspiring to celebrate the values of constitutional democracy, pluralism, and unity in diversity that define the Republic of India and continue to guide the world's largest democracy.
The evening was further enriched by a wonderful performance by Mudra Dance Academy, beautifully showcasing India's rich cultural heritage and vibrant spirit. The traditional dances and artistic expressions reminded us of the deep cultural ties that connect our nations and communities.
As Consular Correspondent for Northern Ireland, I was honoured to represent these important connections and witness the warmth and hospitality that characterise the enduring friendship between India and the United Kingdom.
Congratulations once again to Acting Consul General Mr VVS Rama Krishna and to all our Indian friends. Thank you for the kind invitation and for allowing us to celebrate with you on such an important day. 🇮🇳✨
