We were delighted to welcome pupils from Sunnylands Primary School, Carrickfergus to Northland Court for a special intergenerational planting activity.

The morning brought together younger and older generations to plant, chat and learn from one another. It was lovely to see friendships forming, stories being shared and smiles all round.

Partnerships like this play an important role in creating stronger communities. Intergenerational activities can help reduce social isolation, build confidence and understanding and provide valuable opportunities for people of all ages to connect and learn from one another.

Thank you to Cheree, the staff and pupils from Sunnylands Primary School, and our tenants for making the morning such a success.

We are already looking forward to welcoming Sunnylands back in September for more activities together.

It was great to welcome Belfast Rotary Club and Outwork to Lowry Court.

Together, they spent the day digging, planting and refreshing the outdoor spaces, giving the scheme a real lift just in time for spring. From planting native hedging to revitalising raised beds, the impact is clear.

As part of Social Housing Week, it’s a timely reminder of the positive impact strong communities and partnerships can have.

Today marks the start of Social Housing Week.

At Alpha, we are proud to provide over 1,000 homes across Northern Ireland. Behind each one is someone who has a safe place to call home, can stay connected to their community and has the security they need day to day.

A safe and secure home makes a real difference, supporting independence, wellbeing and stability.

This week is a chance to recognise that impact and the important role social housing plays in people’s lives.

A little Christmas throwback that’s still worth celebrating ✨

Hilary, one of our tenants in Bangor, raised an incredible £830 for Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice after decorating her home with festive lights for the fifth year in a row.

Hilary and her daughter Jacqueline lit up her home with Christmas lights, with neighbours and members of the local community coming along to support and donate £830.

We are delighted to have won the Working in Partnership award at the Chartered Institute of Housing All-Ireland Housing Awards 2026.

This recognises our work with Outwork, part of The Turnaround Project, to improve outdoor spaces across our schemes. This means better maintained, more enjoyable spaces for tenants, while also supporting people who have faced barriers to employment to gain skills and move into work.

We are also really proud of our Scheme Co-ordinators, who were shortlisted for Team of the Year, and everyone involved in our nature recovery work, which was shortlisted for Striving for Sustainability. Together, this reflects the work happening every day to support tenants and create greener, healthier places to live.

We were delighted to welcome local representatives, community stakeholders and partners to celebrate the completion of Dempsey House at Baronsgrange.

The Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Alderman Amanda Grehan, joined us to see how this development has created 12 high quality homes for people aged 55 and over.

Designed using HAPPI principles, Dempsey House, named after our Vice Chair Kieran Dempsey, offers bright, modern and accessible apartments that support independent living.

Delivered in partnership with Fraser Homes, the development forms part of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive's Social Housing Development Programme and has been supported through grant funding from the Communities NI.

We are delighted to share some lovely news about one of our team.

Our Technical Officer Amy Williams has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Rising Star category at the Aico Community Awards 2026.

Many of our tenants will know Amy through her work across our schemes, helping to deal with repairs and day to day maintenance and making sure our homes remain safe and well maintained.

This shortlisting is a wonderful recognition of the professionalism, care and commitment she brings to her role every day.

Congratulations Amy, and best of luck at the awards in April.
