A small object with a powerful story ⌚

For a limited time, a gold pocket watch once belonging to Titanic passenger Mary Mangan from Addergoole, Co. Mayo is now on public display at Titanic Belfast.

Engraved with Mary’s initials, the watch was among the personal possessions recovered following the sinking of RMS Titanic and played an important role in identifying her.

Now visitors can discover Mary’s story through our latest free pop-up exhibition, featuring her pocket watch, chain and a hand-coloured portrait photograph.

in 1985, the search for RMS Titanic reached a major turning point. 🚢

While searching the North Atlantic seabed, Dr Robert Ballard and his team spotted one of Titanic’s boilers, the first major piece of the ship to be identified during the expedition.

The discovery confirmed they had finally located the wreck of RMS Titanic, more than 73 years after she sank on her maiden voyage.
