Great recycling news 📢 tomato ketchup bottle will be 100% fully recyclable - cap and all!

Our parent company, WRAP, have been working with Heinz on the design of their bottles. They have made changes to their lids and we are pleased to announce that the whole bottle will be fully recyclable!

This is part of their big ambition to make all of their packaging recyclable, reusable or compostable by 2025 🙌

The empty bottles, with the cap back on (after rinsing) will be able to be recycled at home in most areas.

What a way to get your kids out & busy during the holidays. Take part in the big butterfly count. Butterflies are vital for pollinating plants. Most butterfly species are in decline. 🦋

The marvellous Marbled White is another to record in the 🦋

In July this unmistakable butterfly can be seen flying in areas of unimproved grassland. Look out for adults roosting halfway down tall grass stems!

It has a particular taste for purple flowers such as Wild Marjoram, Field Scabious, thistles, and knapweeds. 💜

Going by public transport is a greener way to get around. Buses get more people on meaning less vehicles on the road. With the summer holidays coming up going by bus to some of the north easts tourist locations is a fab way to see the north east.

New this summer - Young Ranger Volunteer Programme

This summer, Wallington is offering a unique volunteering programme for 16-20 olds who are keen to gain experience working in the outdoors on conservation and nature projects. It's a great opportunity to get valuable experience on your CV, find out more about jobs in this area of work and see if a career at the National Trust might be for you.

Saturdays 1, 15 and 29 July and 12 and 26 August, from 10am to 2pm.

🐝 what can you plant this summer to help the bees ? 🐝
Due to the colder spring weather the bees have been able to create larger swarms and after last summer the bees went into hives stronger. This is great for the eco system as bees help pollinate.
So planting things that help them is a brilliant way to help them. Let us know what you have in your garden.
