Pull on your wellies and take a walk on the wild side this Autumn
Fancy getting out of the house and doing something a little different?

Wrap up warm, pull on your wellies and join us for a proper autumn day out in the Bedfordshire countryside—with some rather extraordinary company.
A Hawk on the Wild Side is a chance to leave the everyday behind, get outdoors and spend the day walking, flying and getting wonderfully close to some of our magnificent birds of prey.
We’ll start at 10.00am with a warming tea or coffee and a relaxed welcome from our falconers. You’ll meet the hawks who’ll be joining you for the day and learn how to handle, feed and fly them.
Then it’s time to head outside. With glove on and wellies firmly planted, we’ll set off across the fields and through the autumn countryside, with the hawks following us from tree to tree and hedgerow to hedgerow.
There’s something quite magical about watching a hawk flying freely through the countryside—and even more so when it comes sweeping back across the field to land on your gloved hand.
By lunchtime, you’ll be ready for something warming. At 1.00pm, we’ll head back inside for a hearty beef stew with crusty bread, before getting ready for an afternoon with even more of our birds.
You’ll discover a little about the ancient art of falconry, have a go at tying the traditional falconer’s knot and meet, handle and fly a variety of our owls and eagles.
No previous experience is needed. This is simply a chance to get outdoors, try something new and enjoy a unique day in the countryside.
So, if the usual weekend plans aren’t quite cutting it, come and do something different.

An exclusive morning of raptor photography & breakfast
Join us for a special morning of raptor photography followed by a full English breakfast.

The morning will begin at 9:30am, with photographers given the opportunity to capture a variety of our birds of prey in carefully selected settings around the centre.
We’ll start with static photography, positioning different species against a selection of natural and rustic backgrounds. These will include trees, traditional barns and old farm machinery, creating opportunities for both striking portraits and more atmospheric images.
We’ll then move on to birds in flight, giving you the chance to photograph a variety of raptors on the wing. We’ll begin with some of our slower-flying species, allowing everyone time to get comfortable with tracking and photographing birds in motion, before progressing to faster and more challenging flyers.
At 11:30am, cameras can be put away and we’ll finish the morning with a freshly prepared full English breakfast.
Whether you’re an experienced wildlife photographer or simply enjoy taking photographs and would like the opportunity to get closer to some magnificent birds of prey, the morning has been designed to provide plenty of photographic opportunities in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.

Home Education Bird & Animal Sessions – October 2nd, 9th, 16th & 23rd 9.30-11.30
Join us this October for a fantastic series of hands-on Home Education workshops. Across four exciting sessions, children will get up close to birds of prey, farm animals, reptiles, rabbits and guinea pigs while discovering the science, behaviour and care behind the animals they meet.

Each week has a completely different theme, so children can book individual sessions or join us for the full four-week session.

As twilight turns to darkness, gather around for our spectacular Torchlight Owl Flying Display. Watch in amazement as these majestic birds soar silently through the moonlit sky, gliding just inches overhead in a breathtaking finale that will leave you under their spell.

Join us for a truly memorable morning in the company of our beautiful owls.
Your experience begins with an incredible close encounter, giving you the opportunity to get up close, meet and handle a variety of owl species, which may include Barn Owl, Eagle Owls, Tawny Owl, Scops Owl and more.
Then it’s time to experience the real magic as some of our owls take to the air! Watch their graceful, silent flight before they glide into your gloved hand – a wonderful experience and a moment you certainly won’t forget in a hurry.
Throughout the encounter, our falconer will be on hand to answer your questions, share fascinating facts about the owls and, of course, give you plenty of opportunities to capture those all-important photos and memories.
Once your owl encounter has finished, sit back, relax and enjoy a delicious Full English breakfast – the perfect way to round off this unique autumn morning.

🦅The Young Falconers Club 2027 🦅
Membership for The Young Falconers Club 2027 is now open
The young falconers club has now been running for over 15 years. The club was formed to allow children the opportunity to get close to birds of prey and owls. This also allows them to learn about the ancient art of falconry as well as having fun.
The club runs for 10 months; January to November. There is no meeting in August. Each meeting is held on the first Saturday of each month from 10:00-12:30. Over the 10 months, children will have the opportunity to learn, take part, and have fun at lots of different activities. Activities included: learning the falconers knot, safety of handling the birds, handling and flying different owl species, food preparation, equipment making, handling the eagles, going hunting with the hawks and more!

On the first meeting, each child will receive a membership pack. This will include an itinerary for the year, information sheets of different species and an information sheet of the falconers language.

The membership cost is £155.00

Places on the club are limited so we advise you book your membership early to avoid disappointment.

This Club is suitable for children aged 6-14 years.

Fly down to Herrings Green Activity Farm this Halloween for a magical tea experience with a difference!
Spend some unforgettable time in the company of our beautiful owls as you get up close, hands-on and even have the chance to fly them yourself.
Under the guidance of our experienced falconers, you’ll meet and handle a wonderful variety of species. Come face-to-face with the beautiful Barn Owl, feel the impressive weight of our giant Eagle Owl, meet our magnificent Scops Owl, say hello to our cheeky Tawny Owl and discover plenty more feathered characters along the way.
Then it’s time to take to the flying ground! Pop on a falconry glove and experience the magic of an owl’s silent flight as they glide gracefully towards you and land on your hand. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get closer to these incredible birds, with plenty of chances to ask questions and capture some memorable Halloween photos.
Your owl experience lasts approximately one hour, but the treat doesn’t end there…
Afterwards, head into our cosy tea room where you can sit back and enjoy tea and a delicious selection of cakes – the perfect way to finish your time with the owls.

Make a day of it and enjoy everything the farm has to offer before or after your experience.

Places are limited, so early booking is recommended.

Join us for a wonderfully unique morning combining creativity with a very special animal encounter!

In this hands-on needle felting class, you’ll learn how to create your very own adorable needle felted pig to take home. Whether you’re completely new to needle felting or already enjoy getting crafty, this relaxed session is a lovely opportunity to learn a new skill and create something special.
And, of course, no pig-themed morning would be complete without meeting the real thing! During your visit, you’ll also get the chance to meet and feed our gorgeous Kunekune pigs, getting to know these friendly, characterful animals up close.
Led by Sonia from Felted Friends by Sonia, you will receive expert instruction on how to turn soft wool into your own pig. All equipment is provided, you don’t need any experience in needle felting, Sonia will guide you through step by step. A fun and creative way to spend a morning!

Tea/coffee and cake is included in the morning.
