Nestled in the heart of Wilstead, Bedfordshire, we offer an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages. The Bird of Prey Centre and Activity Farm is based in Cotton End Road, Wilstead. The centre and farm is home to over 200 birds of prey and animals. We are open daily from 10.00am - 5.00pm. Adults £8.95 Children (2-15 years) £4.95 and children under 2 years are free.

Summer Junior Animal Keeper Day – July 31st & August 21st 10.00-3.00
This Summer, let the children escape to the farm for a fun-filled day of animals, adventure and hands-on experiences!
Join our experienced animal keepers for an unforgettable day packed with interactive activities and plenty of opportunities to get up close with our amazing animals. Children will have the chance to meet, feed and interact with many of our friendly farm animals including goats, sheep, donkeys, pigs, llamas and alpacas.
The day also includes:
Meeting reptiles, snakes and creepy crawlies
A goat walk around the surrounding farm fields
Pat-a-pet sessions with our rabbits and guinea pigs
Meeting our mischievous skunk, Penelope
And lots more animal fun throughout the day!
This is the perfect experience for animal-loving children who enjoy being outdoors, getting hands-on and learning more about the wonderful animals here on the farm.
Please note:
Lunch is not included, so children will need a packed lunch, snacks and plenty of drinks.
Children should come dressed appropriately for the weather, including suitable footwear, hats and sunscreen if needed.
Parents/guardians are unable to stay during the activity day. Children should be dropped off at 10.00am and collected at 3.00pm. Alternatively, parents are welcome to purchase general admission tickets and meet up with the children during lunchtime.

Home Education Farm Day – June 19th 10.00-3.00
Join us for a full day of hands-on learning where home-educated pupils can step into the role of a real farm worker and experience life on the farm first-hand.
Starting at 10:00am, pupils will enjoy a guided tour of our farm, meeting the animals we care for — and then it’s time to roll up sleeves and get stuck in!
Morning Farm Jobs
Pupils will learn what it’s really like to work on a farm, taking part in essential daily tasks such as:
Mucking out
Feeding and watering animals
They’ll work with a variety of animals including goats, sheep, donkeys, and alpacas, gaining confidence and practical skills along the way.
Animal Health & Welfare – Children will learn how we health-check our animals, including:
A demonstration of foot trimming
Teeth checks
Understanding why regular health checks are so important
Goat Walk Adventure – Once the morning jobs are complete, pupils will head out across the surrounding fields for a goat walk, before returning to the farm to feed them.
Lunch Break – 12:30pm (45 minutes) – Lunch is not included, so please bring a packed lunch. An indoor area is available for eating and resting.
Afternoon Animal Encounters – The afternoon continues with hands-on experiences with some of our smaller animals, including:
Meeting our baby goats
Rabbits and guinea pigs
Meet Penelope our skunk
Pupils will learn what these animals eat and how we care for them.
Exotic Animals Session -To finish the day, pupils will meet some of our more exotic residents, including: reptiles, smaller mammals and creepy crawlies. They’ll learn about animal housing and the importance of correct temperature, lighting, and environment.
This day does need to be pre-booked and we advise you book early to avoid disappointment.
£30.00 per child with one FREE spectating adult.
*Spectating adult can be with the children throughout the course of the day taking photos etc, the only time adults cant spectate is when we are out with goats on the walk, this is due to too higher number of guests*

Step into the enchanting world of owls and enjoy a truly unforgettable summer experience at the Bird of Prey Centre.

Spend time in the company of our beautiful owls and discover the unique personalities of these fascinating birds. During this special one-hour experience, you’ll meet and handle a variety of species including Barn Owls, Tawny Owls, Eagle Owls, Scops Owls and more.

Get up close for incredible photo opportunities, learn all about these amazing birds from our experienced falconer, and ask as many questions as you like. You’ll then head out to the flying ground for the chance to fly some of the owls yourself and witness their silent, graceful flight as they glide gently onto your gloved hand.
After your owl experience, relax in our tea room and enjoy a delicious summer tea with a selection of cakes.
Your ticket also includes full admission to the Bird of Prey Centre and farm, so you are welcome to stay for the rest of the day, explore the centre, meet the animals, and watch our flying displays.

Step into a bright and uplifting new summer experience that blends owl encounters with creative crafting. This unique workshop offers a memorable morning with owls, followed by a relaxing and inspiring needle felting session, where you’ll create your own Summer owl and sunflower decoration to take home.

Your morning begins at 9.30am with an unforgettable hands-on owl experience. Guided by our expert falconer, you’ll meet, handle, and even fly a beautiful selection of owls, including Barn Owls, Tawny Owls, Eagle Owls, and more. It’s a truly uplifting experience and the perfect inspiration for your creative session.

Afterwards, relax in our tea room with a well-earned break, enjoying a cup of tea or coffee and a delicious slice of cake.

The morning continues with a guided needle felting workshop led by Sonia from Felted Friends by Sonia. With step-by-step instruction, you’ll learn how to transform soft wool into a cheerful owl and sunflower decoration—capturing the warmth and brightness of summer in your handmade creation.

Bird of Prey Photography Day – Capture the Wild Up Close
Enjoy a day in the fresh air and immerse yourself in the beauty and power of our magnificent birds of prey. Whether you’re an experienced photographer or an enthusiastic beginner, this is your chance to capture stunning images in a beautiful setting.
Our experienced falconers have been running dedicated photography days for many years and know exactly how to position each bird to give you incredible photographic opportunities. Throughout the morning, you’ll photograph a variety of species set against beautiful, natural backdrops.
Capture iconic British birds including the Barn Owl, Kestrel and Red Kite in meadows, hedgerows, woodland settings and alongside charming vintage farm machinery. You’ll also have the opportunity to photograph some of our breath-taking larger birds, including the majestic American Bald Eagle and African Fish Eagle, along with many other impressive species.
In the afternoon, get ready for action. Photograph birds in flight as our falconer flies them towards you, giving you the chance to capture dramatic, close-up action shots. You’ll also enjoy one of our spectacular flying displays, featuring a range of Owls, Hawks, Eagles and Falcons in motion — perfect for dynamic and unforgettable images.

Home Education Bird of Prey Day – June 22nd 10.00-3.00
Due to the popularity of our home education sessions, we’re delighted to introduce a dedicated Home Education Bird of Prey Day — an unforgettable, hands-on experience designed especially for home-educated children.
Whether you’re new to home education or a seasoned home schooler, this immersive day offers a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating world of birds of prey up close, guided by our experienced and knowledgeable falconers.
What to Expect
The day begins with an introduction to some of our owls. Children will have the chance to meet and handle different species, while learning fascinating facts such as:
How far an owl can turn its head
How owls achieve their incredible silent flight
Their remarkable hearing abilities
Owl Flying Experience
We’ll then head to the flying ground, where children can fly a variety of owl species, watching them glide silently onto their gloved hand.
Introduction to Falconry – Children will explore the traditions of falconry, including:
Tying a falconer’s knot
Learning about different types of perches and their uses
Understanding why birds are weighed, how feeding works, and daily care routines
Lunch Break – 12:30 (45 minutes) -Lunch is not included, so please bring a packed lunch. An indoor area is available for eating and relaxing.
After lunch, we head out across the fields for a hawk walk. Children will see hawks in action as they fly through trees and along hedgerows before swooping back down to the gloved hand — a truly magical experience.
Back at the centre, we finish the afternoon by meeting some of our eagles. Children will have the opportunity to:
Meet and handle an eagle
Learn about their adaptations, habitats, and hunting techniques

Under the guidance of our expert falconer, you’ll have the rare opportunity to meet and handle a variety of eagle species—up close and personal. Come face to face with some of the world’s most awe-inspiring birds, including the American Bald Eagle, Bateleur, Blue Chilean Eagle, and more.
You’ll also head out to the flying ground, where you can witness their breath-taking flight displays and experience the thrill of having an eagle glide gracefully onto your gloved hand.

Join us for a truly memorable close-encounter experience as you spend the morning in the company of our beautiful owls. Get up close, meet and handle different species including the Barn Owl, Eagle Owl, Tawny Owl, Scops Owl and more. This will be followed by free flying some of our owls, feel the magic as you experience their silent flight, gliding gracefully into your gloved hand—an unforgettable moment you won’t forget in a hurry.
There will be plenty of opportunities to ask the falconer any questions you may have and to take those memorable photos.
Once you have finished your owl encounter you can then sit back and enjoy a delicious Full English breakfast, making this a relaxed, unique, and immersive experience.
Please note this experience is not suitable for children under the age of 7 years.
