This is worth a watch if you can get to a screening. It's about the impact of climate change, solutions and lobbying for the action that is needed.

Taking the Briefing Merseyside-wide In November 2025, the National Emergency Briefing brought together leading experts to present the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis to politicians and other influential people in Westminster. That evidence is now on the public record. The aim of the...

Have you tried the new Merseyrail 'Tap and Go' system yet?

For a quick single or return trip when you are on your own, it makes things a lot quicker! Jut tap your debit/credit card or use your phone/watch wallet. Super-speedy!

It's an important part of improving our sustainable travel options across our region. Lots more to come and lots more to do.

For full details and FAQs, take a look at the Merseyrail website https://www.merseyrail.org/tickets-passes/tap-and-go/

Thanks for all your questions since we announced changes coming to bin collections this year. Here’s a quick catch‑up with the key things you wanted to know. 💬

❓ Will I get new bins for food waste?
🗑️ Yes. You will receive a small 5-litre kitchen caddy and a 23‑litre outdoor food waste caddy with a lockable lid. If you live in a flat, you’ll get a small container to carry food waste to your shared outdoor bin.

❓ Will the food bin smell?
🥕 Weekly collections mean it should not smell more than your general waste. Use a liner, empty it often, and keep the lid locked to stop smells and pests.

❓ Why can’t food waste go in my green bin?
🌱 It will be a legal rule that food waste must be collected Separately. Green bin waste is burned, but food waste is too wet, and so burning uses lots of energy. Recycling it turns it into biogas and fertiliser instead.

❓ What if I don’t make much food waste?
🍌 Even small bits like banana skins, tea bags or bones are inevitable and can all be recycled in the food waste collection.

❓ Why don’t you give everyone compost bins instead?
🍏 Not everyone can compost at home, especially without outdoor space. The food waste collections are suitable for everyone and will be provided by the council from July 2026.

Wirral Council is developing a new strategy that will guide the library service from 2026 to 2031.

We are now asking residents, library users, staff and partners for their views on the draft strategy. The consultation runs to 13 April and people can have their say online using the link in comments. For those unable to complete online, paper copies are available at your nearest library.

Feedback will be analysed and used to refine the strategy before it is presented to Tourism, Communities, Culture & Leisure Committee for approval in Summer 2026.
