🏏 Year 9 Cricket Team Fall Just Short in Cheshire Cup Semi-Final🏏

Mr McKibbin reports on a tremendous performance from our Year 9 cricket team in the semi-final of the Cheshire Cup against King's Macclesfield.

Batting first, King's posted a challenging total of 110/9, but Wirral's bowling and fielding display was outstanding throughout, with the boys showing great determination and discipline in the field.

In reply, Wirral made a nervous start but gradually grew into the game, building momentum and keeping a very strong King's side under pressure right until the final overs. Despite a spirited chase, the team fell just 8 runs short of victory.

While the result wasn't quite what we hoped for, the boys can be incredibly proud of their efforts, commitment and resilience. Reaching the semi-final of a prestigious county competition is a fantastic achievement and reflects the hard work they have put in all season.

👏 Well done to all the players involved and thank you to Mr McKibbin for his support throughout the campaign.

☀️WGSB v WGSG Rounders☀️

A huge well done to our Head Boy Team from Wirral Grammar School for Boys and Head Girl Team from Wirral Grammar School for Girls for organising a fantastic fundraising event today in support of Prom 2027.

There was an excellent atmosphere throughout, with plenty of friendly competition and school spirit on display. In a closely contested match, the boys narrowly defeated the girls 12–10, providing plenty of excitement for everyone involved!

A special thank you and congratulations to all of the prefects who helped plan, organise and run the event. Your hard work, enthusiasm and commitment helped make the event such a success.

We would also like to thank all of the students and staff who came along to support the event. Your encouragement, enthusiasm and cheering helped create a fantastic atmosphere and made the afternoon even more enjoyable for everyone involved.

We look forward to seeing what fundraising activities the teams come up with next!

🏅Year 10 Awards Celebration🏅

Congratulations to all of our Year 10 students who received their Silver Awards today for reaching their commendation thresholds. This achievement reflects the hard work, dedication and positive attitude they have shown throughout the year.

A special congratulations goes to Logan and Henry, who have gone one step further and achieved their Gold Award. Unfortunately, Henry was unable to attend today's presentation, but we look forward to celebrating his achievement with him soon.

There are also many more students who will be receiving their Bronze Awards during form time this week – another fantastic accomplishment!

We are incredibly proud of all of our award recipients, as are your parents and carers. Thank you for the positive contribution you make to our school community every day and for continuing to embody our values of Discover, Thrive and Belong.

💼🌟 Year 12 Work Experience Success!🌟💼

A huge well done to all of our Year 12 students who successfully completed their work experience placements last week.

These valuable experiences have provided our students with an insight into the world of work, helping them to develop key employability skills, explore future career pathways and build confidence beyond the classroom.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone in our school community who helped make this possible, including parents and carers for their support throughout the process. We are also incredibly grateful to the many employers who generously welcomed our students into their workplaces. It has been wonderful to hear so much positive feedback about the professionalism, enthusiasm and maturity shown by our students.

A special thank you must go to Mrs Byrne for her hard work and dedication in coordinating the programme. The success of work experience week is a testament to the time and effort she invests in creating meaningful opportunities for our students.

We are extremely proud of all our Year 12 students and the way they represented the school throughout the week.

🌎⚽ World Cup Fever in Spanish!⚽🌎

This week in Ms Broadhurst’s Year 10 Spanish lesson, students have been researching and creating detailed profiles of Spanish-speaking countries competing in the FIFA World Cup.

From exploring geography, culture and traditions to investigating famous landmarks, cuisine and footballing history, students have been developing their language skills while learning more about the Spanish-speaking world beyond the classroom.

A fantastic opportunity to combine language learning with the excitement of the World Cup, helping students to develop their global awareness and cultural understanding.

👏 Well done to Year 10 for their excellent research and presentations!
