People from Battle and the surrounding area are invited to come together this September for Battle's Big Green Day, a free community event celebrating practical ideas for a greener Battle.

Taking place at Battle Memorial Hall on Sunday 27 September, the event will bring together local community groups, charities, businesses and organisations, all sharing simple, practical ways people can make a positive difference in their homes, gardens and local community. The event will be officially opened by the Mayor of Battle, Cllr Sue Burton.

Visitors can enjoy a programme of short talks, explore a wide range of exhibition stands, watch The People’s Emergency Briefing film (16+) and discover local environmental initiatives. Children’s activities will include a quiz and discovery trail around the event.

There will be live apple pressing - bring along a clean, empty screw-top bottle and watch fresh apples being pressed into juice by a Somerset expert for you to take home.

The will also encourage people to think about one positive change they could make, with opportunities for individuals, households, groups and schools to get involved and win prizes.

The event is hosted by Battle Solar Town. Nicky Bishop, Chair of Battle Solar Town, said: “Solar is just one of a myriad of things people can do to make their homes and neighbourhoods greener places to live. Whether you're into wildlife, veg growing, energy, trees or avoiding harmful chemicals - every small action makes a difference.”

The event is free to attend and open to everyone, whether they're already involved in local environmental projects or simply curious to find out more.

Battle's Big Green Day takes place from 11am until 3pm on Sunday 27 September at Battle Memorial Hall.

Greener Living in Battle - Tip of the Month:

Run your dishwasher and washing machine only when they’re full, and choose shorter or eco cycles where you can. It’s a small everyday habit that helps save energy, water, and money.
