Update from GOV.UK for: Inspection materials updated ahead of September 2026

Ofsted has today published the first of their annual updates to the education inspection toolkits and operating guides. https://buff.ly/Frwxg72

For early years inspections, among other things, the toolkit has been updated to contain additional information outlining practitioners’ responsibilities to protect children from harm, and an additional standard in the children’s welfare and wellbeing evaluation area relating to safer sleeping, eating and weaning arrangements. https://buff.ly/mvyQNgR

Transitions can be a significant time of change for two-year-olds, emotionally, socially, and developmentally.

Joanne Goode and Tracey Curzons, Early Years Advisory teachers for Bath and North East Somerset, will be leading this focused Spotlight on Twos Network event.

They will be exploring how to support young children as they move between rooms, routines, or settings. Supporting early years settings to provide high-quality provision for the children they care for, and to support narrowing the achievement gap.

We’ll consider the importance of relationships, communication with families, and creating a sense of continuity to ensure transitions are smooth, sensitive, and child-centred.
