From today, children and pregnant women can get their flu vaccinations ahead of winter.

Children aged 2 and 3 can get vaccinated at their GP surgery, while most school-aged children will be offered the vaccine at school.

Pregnant women can speak to their maternity team, GP practice or community pharmacy about getting vaccinated.

Congratulations to our High Impact User team, who have won our Working Together Award. ๐ŸŽ‰

The team supports some of the most vulnerable people who regularly attend our Emergency Department, helping those facing challenges such as addiction, housing difficulties, domestic abuse, learning disabilities, and limited community support.

By bringing together healthcare, social care and voluntary sector partners, the team helps address the underlying issues affecting a person's health and wellbeing, and ensures patients receive the right support whenever they come into hospital.

Thank you to everyone in the team for your dedication, kindness and commitment to improving care for our community. ๐Ÿ‘

Tick one thing off your back to school list by completing and returning the consent form for your child's flu vaccine.

School aged children will be offered a flu vaccine at school from 1 September 2026.

For most children, the vaccine will be given as a spray in each nostril. This is a very quick and painless procedure and helps to protect them, and those around them, from flu.

RUH praised by patients for kindness and compassion ๐Ÿ’™

Patients have praised teams at the RUH for treating them with kindness, compassion, respect and dignity in the latest national Adult Inpatient Survey.

They also said they felt involved in decisions about their care, were given information about their treatment, and that staff took their individual needs into account. In all of these areas, the RUH performed better than most trusts across the country ๐Ÿ˜Š

A huge thank you to all our staff for the care they provide every day, and to the patients who took the time to share their feedback. We know there is always more to do and we remain committed to improving the experience of everyone who uses our services. ๐Ÿ’™

You can find out more about the results on the CQC website.

Are you planning one last summer adventure before school returns? โ˜€

A few simple steps can help keep everyone safe and well this bank holiday weekend:

๐Ÿฉน Pack plenty of supplies, like a first aid kit for minor cuts and grazes and bottles of water.
โ›ฑ Reapply SPF 30+ sun cream regularly, especially after being in water or towel drying.
๐Ÿ‘ Remember to wash your hands after meeting animals or touching enclosures at farms, and follow visitor guidance.
๐Ÿฅพ Dress for the weather and activity with hats and comfortable shoes.
๐Ÿšฒ Always use a properly fitted helmet when riding a bike, scooter or skateboard.
๐ŸŒณBe tick aware and check your skin and clothing for ticks after spending time outdoors.
โš  Know where to get help if you need it - NHS 111 online, your local pharmacy, Minor Injury Unit, or the Emergency Department for serious of life-threatening emergencies.
