Today, Graeme Fox met with Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) in Westminster to discuss current and upcoming developments in F-Gas regulation.

With the ongoing phasedown of refrigerants and increasing focus on alternative solutions, it’s essential that the practical realities faced by businesses are reflected in policy decisions.

The F-Gas Register continues to represent its members by contributing to these discussions - helping ensure that regulatory changes are both effective and workable across the industry.

This includes ongoing dialogue around:
• phasedown timelines
• skills and training requirements
• safe adoption of alternative refrigerants

After months of speculation, the Government has confirmed that there will be 𝗻𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙-𝗚𝗮𝘀 𝗾𝘂𝗼𝘁𝗮 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺.

“The delay gives business the time needed to prepare for the more rapid phasedown in time. We have long argued that the sector needs time to upskill in readiness for the transition to refrigerants that introduce safety hazards such as flammability.”

This decision provides short-term stability, but the long-term direction of travel remains unchanged - with continued focus on transition and upskilling across the sector.

The F-Gas Register will continue engagement with Government, with further discussions already scheduled for mid-June.
