The future of Fanum House is set to be discussed by councillors next week. At a meeting next Tuesday (9 June), Cabinet will consider proposals to demolish the building which is in a poor condition and contains asbestos.
A range of options have been explored, including new office space and homes, but upgrading the early 1970s building to modern standards would need significant investment. If agreed, demolishing Fanum House would allow the site to be brought back into use as a priority site for a new investment partnership which is being progressed to fast track improvements in Basing View and the town centre.
Plans could include a mix of high-quality office space, educational facilities and new homes while looking at ways to reflect the history of the site.
