💉The Government’s proposals to restrict high-risk cosmetic procedures to trained professionals, ban risky treatments for under-18s, and introduce new criminal offences are a welcome step forward.

But the licensing scheme is urgently needed. Last year, our calls for a licensing scheme highlighted the risks consumers face when procedures are carried out by people without the right training or standards.

As the proposals currently apply to England, we’re calling on the Government to work with the devolved nations so that consumers are protected across the whole of the UK.
