Today two of our firefighters, as well as colleagues from HR & Training, attended a careers day for pupils and parents at Baysgarth School

This week we worked alongside our colleagues from the prevention department, welcoming a group of children from Baysgarth School to Barton Fire Station for sessions designed to inspire the next generation of firefighters! 👨‍🚒 🔥

They learnt some fireground techniques aswell as some life skills such as performing CPR. 💓

They were a really positive group, who were really engaging and asked loads of role based questions!🚒

Today they received their completed certificates and got to look around Barton’s fire engine and have a go with the hose also!! 💦

Thank you to all the pupils and staff who made this a really good week, we hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did!

Good luck to our colleagues completing this challenge 🚲

Today (Sunday 1 March), starting at the very early hour of 4am, a determined group of eight serving and retired firefighters from Humberside Fire and Rescue Service will take on an incredible endurance challenge!

Led by former Hull FC player and now firefighter Matt Schultz, the team will cycle a continuous 4km loop around Molescroft, Beverley - completing it over 100 times without stopping… totalling an unbelievable 250 miles 🤯🔥

All of this is to raise vital funds for the Rob Burrow Centre for MND and thanks to amazing community support, donations are already nearing £7,000 - with hopes to push that even higher by Sunday!

Throughout the day, various supporters, groups and teams will be joining the effort - including the Hull FC Ex Players Association, who will be integrating their wellbeing walk along the route, with some Hull FC ex players also jumping on bikes!

We attended Baysgarth School for their careers fair today. We spoke with many pupils in years 8, 9 and 10, giving an insight on different careers Humberside Fire & Rescue Service has to offer.

Barton St Peter's Oak 1 & 2 students took the time to create this lovely thank you card for the crew at Barton, following a recent visit to help them learn about “People who help us”. 🚒🚒

The handwritten messages in the card brightened our day and the card has now been displayed in our station for all fire service staff to read and enjoy.
