Weather Update – Barry Island Food Festival

It is with a very heavy heart that, due to the forecast of high winds and severe weather conditions, we have made the difficult decision to cancel today’s Barry Island Food Festival.

The safety of our traders, visitors, performers and staff must always come first, and after careful consideration, we do not feel it is safe to proceed today.

We know how disappointing this is. Our incredible traders have worked so hard to prepare for the weekend, and we are absolutely gutted to have to make this call.

The good news is that the festival will go ahead tomorrow, and we’re planning a full day of fantastic food, drink, music, markets and family-friendly activities.

If you’re able to join us tomorrow, we’d be incredibly grateful for your support. Our traders have lost a day of trading, so we’d love to see as many people as possible come down, support local businesses, eat well, shop local and help us make tomorrow a blooming brilliant day.

Thank you for your understanding, patience and support. We can’t wait to welcome you tomorrow.

🏳️‍🌈🐾 A quick note about dogs at Barry Pride 🐾🏳️‍🌈

We know how much people love bringing their four-legged friends along to events, we do too! Unfortunately, dogs will not be permitted on the Barry Pride event site this year.

We are aware that there has been some confusion regarding whether dogs would be permitted within the park. This arose due to a miscommunication during the planning process, and we appreciate everyone’s patience while clarification was sought.

This decision has not been taken lightly. Following comprehensive risk assessments by our safety team, we’ve concluded that the combination of loud amplified music, large crowds, limited space, and production equipment means the event would not be a safe or comfortable environment for dogs.

We want everyone (including our furry friends) to have a positive experience, and for that reason dogs will not be permitted on the event site, with the exception of recognised assistance and service dogs.

Thank you for your understanding and support. We can’t wait to welcome you to Barry Pride!

Barry Pride is organised entirely by volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to creating a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable event for the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies. We welcome constructive feedback and respectful discussion; however, we will not tolerate abusive, aggressive, or disrespectful behaviour towards our staff, volunteers, contractors, or event personnel.
