Walney Town Councillor Kay Hyland joined Furness First Responders for a demonstration on recognising cardiac arrest and using a defibrillator at North Scale Community Centre. Barrow Town Council provided a grant to purchase and install the defibrillator. The demonstration was very well received, and a donation was given to the First Responders. They hope to have another session in the future so if anyone is interested please get in touch with [email protected] or the community centre.

Barrow Mayor Cllr Judith McEwan, Deputy Mayor Cllr Fred Chatfield and Councillors Bill McEwan, Kay Hyland and Penny Jackson attended a thought-provoking Holocaust Memorial Day assembly at Chetwynde School. It was conducted by the pupils and was very emotional. The Mayor shared a personal story about her reading The Diary of Anne Frank when she was a young girl.
