A full weekend of remembrance for the SquadronâŚ
It started with a remembrance service at the railway station followed by supporting the start of Barrowâs football match as a show of remembrance. Thank you so much to all Cadets & staff for supporting these 2 events on Saturday. You all looked very smart and did us proud.
Finally, today the Squadron braved the horrific rain to join the remembrance parade from Barrowâs Town Hall to the cenotaph. We couldnât be prouder of our Cadets old & new, putting their best foot forward and showing their respect for those who have fell for our country.
3 of our Cadets, Milby, Postlethwaite and Cpl Long joined the band on a bass drum & 2 snares. They did so well, having to pick up navy songs in just 1 evening beforehand!
Sgt Thompson was on cenotaph duty. He stood there in the cold & wet, not flinching from his duty. While FS Wielkopolski carried the Sqn banner again, representing the Sqn faultlessly.
As well as playing the snare, Cpl Long took on the role of laying the wreath for the Squadron. He looked very smart alongside his fellow Army Cadet as they saluted the cenotaph out of respect.
Finally, we had a request for a Cadet to support with a reading. Cpl Sweeney rose to this challenge, saying the words âat the going down of the sun & in the morning, we will remember themâ, starting off the buglars symbolizing the start of our silence. To stand in front of the many people there and speak into the microphone takes a lot of courage, well done!
