Today marks the beginning of the Normandy Landings, D Day, and the opening of a second front in Europe against N**i Fascism.

The Communist Party played a key role in opening up a second front in Europe, with our former General Secretary Harry Pollitt publicly lobbying for Britain and our allies to actively take the fight to the Fascists in 1942.

Our contribution to the victory over N**i Germany is one of the proudest chapters in the history of Britain’s working class - and it belongs to the working class. It had nothing to do with the predatory motivations of imperialist wars and interventions since.

Celebrate the victory over fascism achieved by the peoples of Britain and the Soviet Union.

The MP for Barrow and Furness has been named in a list of 12 Parliamentarians with the least contributions in the House of Commons.

Just what is she actually doing with her time?

Nearly 2 years since being elected and she still doesn't have an MP office.

Even more shocking is the revelation that Parliamentary documents show Michelle Scrogham MP received £10,000 from Labour Together during her election campaign.

A shocking report has shown that disgraced peer Peter Mandelson was directly involved in helping Morgan McSweeney select Labour’s parliamentary candidates ahead of the 2024 general election.

He was given access to a secret Google spreadsheet of potential candidates McSweeney and his allies used.

Now, calls for proper investigations into this shady activity and funding are starting to ramp up. Still we hear nothing from Michelle Scrogham and her team.

81 YEARS SINCE VICTORY IN EUROPE

Today, on VE day, we remember all those who fought in the great war against fascism.

A charity event was held on 1st February 1942 at Ulverston Roxy Cinema to raise funds for the Soviets on the Eastern Front battling the Fascist invaders.

The people of South Lakes stood with those in the Soviet Union in the fight against Fascism.

84 years on from this event, and 81 years since victory, we must remember this spirit and ensure the fight continues.

News that the Forum and Market Hall in Barrow will be demolished without a full coherent plan is devastating to many in our community.

This is another attack on working class culture and something we have seen escalated since the Labour Government came to power.

Cultural experiences in class-divided societies like ours are often compromised and commercialised, twisted and manipulated to serve the need for dominant classes to justify and maintain their exploitative and oppressive social structures. We want to see culture democratised – owned, managed and enjoyed by working people, so that we have full and fair access to all kinds of cultural experiences.

Culture matters, and we must come together to fight for our spaces.
