๐ŸŒฟ CENTRAL AREA WARD DAY! ๐ŸŒฟ

Today the Envirocentral Team were out and about across the Central Area, tackling a number of jobs to keep our streets and footpaths looking their best! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿงน

๐Ÿ“ Osborne Street / Doncaster Road

We started the day clearing the backings between Osborne Street and Doncaster Road.

The team:
๐ŸŒฟ Cut back the overgrown hedges
๐ŸŒฑ Weeded the area
๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ Reported contaminated bins
๐Ÿšฎ Reported and removed fly-tipping
๐ŸŒณ Removed self-set trees

Once that was looking much better, it was time to move on! ๐Ÿš

๐Ÿ“ Shelly Drive to Burton Road

Next up was the footpath connecting Shelly Drive to Burton Road.

We had received reports that the path was becoming slippy underfoot, and with it being heavily used by school children, the team got straight on it! ๐Ÿ‘ทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช

The team:
๐ŸŒณ Removed a self-set tree
๐ŸŒฑ Cleared the weeds
๐Ÿงน Scraped away the moss
๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ Made the footpath safer and easier to use

๐Ÿ“ Windermere Road

For our final job of the day, we headed up to Windermere Road to tackle another backing. ๐Ÿ’ช

Again, the team got stuck in:
๐ŸŒฑ Weeding the area
๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ Removing side waste
๐Ÿงน Scraping up the moss
๐Ÿšฎ Tagging contaminated bins for uplift

Another busy day for the Envirocentral Team, making a real difference across the Central Area! ๐Ÿ’š

๐ŸŒฟ Birk Ave transformation! ๐Ÿงนโœจ

Today, the EnviroCentral team spent the whole day giving Birk Ave some much-needed TLC! ๐Ÿ’š

We started by strimming back the overgrown weeds along the pavement, working down from the park and tidying up the area as we went. ๐ŸŒฑโœ‚๏ธ

We then got stuck into a full street litter pick, collecting 4 bags of litter and helping make Birk Ave cleaner and brighter! ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ๐Ÿ‘

To round off the day, we also collected yesterdayโ€™s litter-picking bags from Heaven and Ale, who did an incredible job collecting 24 bags overall!๐Ÿ”ฅ

A huge well done to them! Making a real difference to our local streets! ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒ

๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿงน Worsbrough Another Great Day of Teamwork! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’š

Today, the Envirocentral team started things off in Worsbrough by getting stuck into some weeding along Mitchell Street, giving the area a much-needed tidy-up. ๐ŸŒฑโœ‚๏ธ

From there, we met up with the fantastic Worsbrough Tidy Team ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’š and headed to Monk Springs for a good old-fashioned litter pick! ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ๐Ÿงค

The Envirocentral team also cut back some of the overgrown shrubbery ๐ŸŒณโœ‚๏ธ, allowing us to get into areas that had been difficult to reach and uncovering some historic litter that had been hidden for some time. ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ

A massive thank you to the 7 brilliant volunteers who joined us and helped make such a difference! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Together, the volunteers and Envirocentral team collected an amazing 27 bags of litter! ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ

A refreshed play space in the heart of Barnsley town centre ๐ŸŒฟ

Children visiting Spring Street play area will now find a new toddler climbing unit, a new seesaw, improved surfacing and a refreshed entrance, alongside repainted play equipment.

The work has been delivered through Barnsley Council's Love Where You Live programme and is helping keep this well-used play area ready for local families to enjoy.

Looking after our parks is everyone's responsibility. If you spot damage, anti-social behaviour or any issues that need attention, please report them so we can help keep the space welcoming for everyone.

๐Ÿ‚ Looking for something fun to do with your little ones this autumn? ๐Ÿ‚

Our friends at Barnsley Family Hubs Central based in Worsbrough have a fantastic programme of FREE activities and support for families with young children throughout September, October, November and December.

From Stay and Play, Play and Learn and Little Talkers sessions, to specialist groups including SEND Brunch, SENDsory Explorers, and support for parents through New You New Us, there's something for everyone.

These welcoming sessions are a great way for children to learn through play, make new friends and develop new skills, whilst parents and carers can access advice, support and meet other local families.

Take a look at the timetable below and see what's on offer this season. Why not pop along and give it a try?

Today the Envirocentral team split their time between the Dodworth Ward and Central Ward due to the Bank Holiday ๐Ÿš๐ŸŒณ

๐ŸŒฑ Silver Street โ€“ Dodworth

We started the day on Silver Street, tackling the footpath that leads through to Fairway.

The team:
โœ‚๏ธ Cut back and trimmed the overgrown hedges
๐ŸŒฟ Weeded the path and banking
๐Ÿชด Strimmed the grass banking
๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ Litter picked the area
โ™ป๏ธ Collected 4 bags of rubbish

A great transformation and another footpath brought back to a much better standard! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘

๐ŸŒณ Rose Hill Drive

Next, we headed over to the seating area at the end of Rose Hill Drive, where we cleared away the natural leaf litter that had fallen from the cherry trees ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ‚.

A quick tidy-up to keep this popular seating area looking clean, presentable and ready for residents to enjoy. ๐Ÿ˜Š

๐Ÿฅ• Harbour Hill Community Allotment โ€“ Central Ward

We then headed over to Harbour Hill Allotment to celebrate Lindaโ€™s fantastic community allotment and all the hard work that has gone into making it such a great space for the community. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŒพ๐ŸŒฑ

It was great to see around 20 volunteers all together in one place, with everyone getting stuck in and helping out. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’š

There was plenty to do, with everyone helping to harvest the fantastic produce that has been grown, including ๐ŸŽ apples, ๐Ÿ pears, ๐Ÿ… tomatoes and ๐Ÿซ blackberries!

It was brilliant to see the results of all the hard work that Linda and her volunteers have put into the allotment. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ‘

The allotment has also benefited from the work of different groups, including Envirocentral, Stepping Stones and Balfour Beatty, all helping to make the site more accessible and welcoming for members of the community. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿค

Linda and her volunteers are doing an amazing job, not only growing fresh fruit and vegetables but also helping people learn how to grow their own food and showing how the produce can be turned into healthy and tasty meals. ๐Ÿฅ•๐Ÿ…๐Ÿฅ”๐Ÿฒ

A fantastic example of what can happen when community groups, volunteers and organisations work together. โค๏ธ๐ŸŒฑ
