Join us on Saturday 20 June as we celebrate and support our Armed Forces community.

Barnsley’s Armed Forces Celebration Day will feature a packed programme of entertainment, including the chance to see a replica Spitfire up close. Alongside this, there’ll be a wide range of activities for all ages – from a military parade, armed forces-themed experiences, a climbing wall, face painting, military vehicles and more.

On Tuesday, over 100 young people from nine Barnsley primary schools attended Barnsley’s Children’s University Gold Award Celebration. Congratulations to all the amazing graduates! 🎉

Each of these young people were recognised for their commitment to learning outside of the curriculum, and engaging in a variety of enrichment opportunities. To receive their gold award, each young person had achieved a minimum of 100 hours of extra-curricular learning, with many also achieving 200, 300, and one young person achieving Barnsley’s first ever 500 hour gold award!

Children’s University continues to grow in Barnsley, with four new schools currently in the process of joining the programme. If you would like more information on how your primary school can get involved, visit barnsley.gov.uk/services/children-young-people-and-families/barnsley-childrens-university.

Join us to mark Armed Forces Day in Barnsley

We’ll be holding a short service on Saturday 27 June, from 10am at Barnsley PALS Centenary Gardens, next to the Town Hall.

Everyone is welcome to come along and show their support for those who serve and have served.

This service is in addition to our Armed Forces Celebration Day, taking place in Glass Works Square on Saturday 20 June, so there are plenty of ways to get involved and show your support.

We hope to see you there.
