We are continuing our work to remove disqualified drivers, who can cause serious risk to other road users, from our roads,

In December last year, we conducted a speeding operation on Vernon Road in Wosborough. As part of this op, we stopped David Hutchinson, as he was travelling in excess of the speed limit.

Upon further checks, we also uncovered that Hutchinson was disqualified from driving and didn't have insurance.

He was charged and appeared before Barnsley Magistrates' Court on 11 March where he pled guilty to driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, and speeding.

The 43-year-old, of Victoria Street, appeared at the same court last Thursday (21 May) and was handed a community order, further disqualified from driving for 35 months, and ordered to pay costs and fines.

NEWS: Barnsley father and daughter sentenced and handed CBOs

A Barnsley father and daughter have been sentenced and handed Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs) for begging and shoplifting offences.

Terrance and Teri Hodson both stole several items across numerous stores and supermarkets within the Pen*stone and Athersley area, with Terrance Hodson also begging outside of the stores.

Terrance Hodson, 65, of Church View Road, Barnsley, appeared at Barnsley Magistrates' Court last week where he was given a 12 week sentence suspended for 12 months and was handed a CBO which is in force for three years and prohibits him from:

• Entering or attempting to enter any Tesco supermarket or any associated land including car parks and where cash machines are within the Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council area
• Entering or attempting to enter Greggs on High Street in Pen*stone
• Entering or attempting to enter any Co-op stores within the Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council area
• Entering or attempting to enter Lidl on Wakefield Road or any associated land of its store including the car park

Hodson also has a community protection notice in place which prohibits him from:

• Placing himself on any thoroughfare or public place within the Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council area with the intention of gathering ALMs, including money, food or possessions
• Sitting, crouching perching or loitering on any thoroughfare or in a public place within the area covered by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council which would reasonably give any person the impression of begging or intending to beg
• Approaching anyone within the Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council area for the purpose of gathering ALMs, including money, food or possessions
• Conducting himself in a manner that would give a member of the public the impression that he is homeless

Terri Hodson, 40, of Selby Road, Barnsley, appeared at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on 15 May and was handed a 16 week sentence suspended for 18 months, and a CBO which is in force for three years and prohibits her from entering or attempting to enter any Co-op store within the Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council area (this includes petrol stations incorporating Co-op stores).

A CBO is one of the options available to officers when it comes to dealing with people engaging in repeated anti-social behaviour or low-level crime.

If you see Terrance or Teri Hodson breaching any of the conditions of their CBOs, please contact us via 101 or through our online portal.

Today PCSO Whitehouse was joined on patrol by Inspector Richardson.

It didn't take them long to sniff out this stolen 125 motorbike parked up in Kingstone.

The registration comes back to a yellow bike with a different engine size; unless we are mistaken, this bike is definitely not a shade of yellow.

Vehicle recovered and enquiries continue.

Another drink driver caught by our officers.

Earlier this month, our officers were on patrol in the Oxspring area of Pen*stone, when they noticed a white Land Rover on Thurgoland Bank. Information was received that the driver may be driving while under the influence of alcohol.

We asked the driver to stop and she disclosed that she had consumed alcohol that day. Following this, we asked her to conduct a road side breath test, where she blew 105 - the legal limit being 35 milligrams of alcohol.

The driver, Emma Pulfrey, was arrested and later charged for driving a motor vehicle over the prescribed limit of alcohol. The 50-year-old, of High Field Knoll, appeared before Barnsley Magistrates' Court yesterday (20 May) where she pled guilty and was disqualified from driving for 20 months.

Pulfrey was also ordered to pay a total of £808 in court costs and fines.

The risk of getting behind the wheel isn't worth it. Don't drink and drive.

A Barnsley thief has been put behind bars following a string of offences.

Between April and May, Paul Wake stole items from multiple shops around the town, worth over £140. Items included alcohol, food and laundry products.

All incidents were captured on CCTV, and through work completed by our District Support Hub, Wake was identified as the suspect in all cases. It was also identified that Wake was in breach of his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO)

The 48-year-old was promptly arrested and charged with five counts of shoplifting and three counts of breaching a CBO.

Wake, of Rufford Avenue, plead guilty to all offences at Barnsley Magistrates' Court yesterday (12 May) and was handed a 12-month sentence.

Our work continues around shoplifting and those who choose to breech their CBOs. If we see offences happening, report it to us so we can investigate accordingly.
