It’s sad to say that in recent weeks we’ve had damage caused in our Pleasant Avenue Parks & the Church Street Skate Park. We’re assessing the damage & will be obtaining quotes for repair.

Also, in the coming weeks the hedges, pump track & outer edges of the Skate Park will be cut back. Thank you for your patience 💚

Thank you to Lisa & Clare from the Barnsley Council South Area Team who took time out of their busy schedule this morning to visit the Parish Council.

Our two hours passed quickly discussing village needs and the services commissioned by the South Area Council. We’re all looking forward to working together, a further session will be organised at the Welfare Hall for village groups to come together & meet the team so watch this space 👍🏼

We know how hard all of our Young People work at Sandhill Primary School, and how supportive the school staff are at doing their very best to prepare them, not only for their SAT’s but every single school day throughout the year! More Marvellous volunteering around our amazing village. This time it’s a thank you to Great Houghton Youth Group. ♥️
Their Friday coffee morning and meal funded by the Household Support Fund is very popular at and almost at full capacity!

Last weeks meal was quiche, salad & new potatoes, followed by a variety of cakes 🥮 🍽️🥗🍰This Fridays was corned beef hash and Yorkshire pudding, followed by more cake 🍲🍽️🫛🧁

♥️Thank you to the busy volunteers for all you do. Birthday Boy…James was made to have the day off as it was his birthday. Such a brilliant volunteer and amazing young man♥️

Lots going on in the village as always! The Methodist Church Walking Group are carrying on their long tradition of litter picking. Although their numbers have reduced since first set up many years ago their impact hasn’t. Thank you to all the group Methodist Church volunteers, your activity definitely helps to keep our village clean & it’s very much appreciated.
