We are very lucky to have such a superstar author in Barnoldswick!

Calling all crime fans! We’re thrilled to invite you to a Murder Mystery Night led by New York Times bestselling author and Barnoldswick resident Antony Johnston.

His hit 2025 interactive novel ‘Can You Solve the Murder?’ challenged readers to crack the case themselves—and now it’s your turn to step into the story. With a brand-new follow-up releasing this July, there’s no better time to test your detective skills.

Work in teams to uncover hidden clues, interrogate suspects, and piece together the puzzle to identify the culprit. No team? No problem! We’ll match you with fellow budding detectives so everyone can join the fun.

FREE event – reserve your place by speaking to library staff, scanning the QR code on the poster or following the link below:

https://www6.apps.lancashire.gov.uk/w/webpage/event-details?eventid=3451459

The Friends of Barnoldswick Library will be on hand, as always, to keep you fuelled with refreshments as you crack the case!

We had a lovely time at celebrating Elmer Day. We enjoyed a story-time, and lots of activities including creating our own Elmers using tissue paper and milk bottles. Everyone enjoyed the patchwork fun!

Saturday 6th June 10.00 - 12.00pm
The Great Big Green Week Toy Swap

This is a great opportunity for a clear out of any toys your kids no longer play with. Great for the environment, great for your pockets! What’s not to love? We will be there with refreshments as always.

You can drop toy donations at the library in advance during opening hours or just bring along on the day.

Our friends at Eco Barnoldswick are also running a plant and clothes swap on the same day so head over to Frank Street for a super sustainable Saturday!

This week is Dementia Action Week, and Barnoldswick Library is proud to host the Butterflies Memory Café.

The café is open to anyone who may be experiencing memory loss, would like support, wants to meet others, or simply to get out of the house in a welcoming environment. The group meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month. Please see the poster below for exact dates, there is no booking required.

The Alzheimer’s Society are encouraging people to share their ‘Forget Me Not’ stories as part of Dementia Action Week.

https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/get-involved/dementia-action-week

The forget-me-not flower is a powerful symbol of dementia – representing memory loss, as well as a call for kindness, understanding, and inclusion.

There is selection of books on dementia to offer support, please pop into the library to pick one up.
