Staffordshire Community Fund – Local Projects Support

Did you know County Councillors can help fund local community projects? πŸ‘

Each County Councillor has up to Β£2,500 to support local ideas and initiatives that benefit their communities. In some cases, councillors can also team up to support bigger projects.

πŸ’‘ What it can help fund:

Community projects that support health, wellbeing, and independence
Activities that bring people together, support young people, or build community spirit
Improvements to local spaces and facilities
Cultural, arts, heritage, and local pride projects

πŸ™Œ Who can apply:

Community, voluntary, and non-profit groups
Local organisations running community-focused projects

⚠️ What can’t be funded:

Ongoing running costs or staff salaries
Commercial or private profit-making projects
Political or religious activities
Projects outside Staffordshire or those that discriminate in any way

πŸ“Œ How to apply:
Have a chat with your local County Councillor about your idea, then complete a short application form if they support it. You’ll need to show how the funding will be used and what difference it will make.

Your County Councillor is Sean Bagguley https://staffordshire.moderngov.co.uk/mgUserInfo.aspx?UID=21183

Journeys should normally be booked with at least 48 hours’ notice, with longer journeys requiring additional notice where possible.

The scheme is coordinated by Joe and Heather Poultney and continues to provide a valuable service to our community.

πŸ“ž To book a journey call: 01782 354200

Please note that guide rates are now based on 55p per mile from 1 June 2026 following the increase in the Government mileage rate.

A huge thank you to all of the volunteers who help keep this important community service running. πŸ‘

We thought you might like to see the photo montage that was shown to congregation members on Sunday at the Villager of the Year presentation πŸ“Έβœ¨

It helps show just why Tim Cockin was chosen as this year’s recipient πŸ‘πŸ†

A lovely celebration of everything he has contributed to village life and the wider community πŸ’š

Congratulations once again, Tim! πŸŽ‰

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Annual Certificates of Commendation & Villager of the Year presentation today, it was wonderful to see such great support from the community.

Congratulations once again to our very deserving recipients: Sandie Buxton, Dennis Croome, and Claire Bailey on their Certificates of Commendation πŸ…, and to Tim Cockin, our Villager of the Year and recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Award πŸ†πŸŽ‰

A special thank you to St John the Baptist Church for hosting us and for their generosity in serving tea and coffee - it was very much appreciated β˜•πŸ’›

We’d also like to thank Fiskars/Wedgwood for kindly donating the beautiful memento bowl that Tim will keep as a reminder of this special recognition - it’s inscribed β€œBringing Barlaston’s History to Life”.

The service and refreshments made for a truly warm and memorable occasion, celebrating the people who make our village such a great place to be.

Thank you all for being part of it πŸ’› and thanks to everyone who works and volunteers behind the scenes to make Barlaston such a special place to live.
