Councillor Tim Bearder the leader of Oxfordshire says this strongly suggests the approach the county council has taken in Oxfordshire is working. He said: "We have made a conscious decision as a county to take speed seriously because lower speeds save lives, reduce the severity of injuries, and make our communities safer and healthier places to live."

LibDem leaders at Oxfordshire County Council and Cherwell District Council resign in the space of 24 hours.

Two LibDem County Councillors resign the whip and a third Cabinet member quits.

These Councils spend over £1 billion of public money annually and have a combined capital programme of nearly £1.5 billion.

Local residents deserve better.
