A political row has erupted over plans to house migrants on a military site.

You really couldn’t make it up.

A shovel isn’t even in the ground yet and this project has already been delayed by another year.

We’re now being told the Eynsham Park & Ride isn’t expected to open until early summer 2028, with the wider A40 project not completed until summer 2029!

This highlights exactly what I’ve been saying for years that the Lib Dems simply don’t have a clue when it comes to delivering major infrastructure projects.

Had they not cancelled the planned A40 dual carriageway upgrades between Witney and Eynsham, we would have had access to the Park & Ride built and work on the bus lanes could have been well underway.

Instead, we have a brand-new Park & Ride sitting closed, taxpayers continuing to pick up the costs, and residents facing years more delays.

The constant redesigns, delays and changing timetables are appalling project management and yet nobody ever seems to be held accountable.

And here’s the extraordinary part: by the time they say the entire project will finally be finished in 2029, Oxfordshire County Council itself will have been abolished.

What a legacy they can be proud of.

West Oxfordshire desperately needs proper investment in the A40. It’s time to get this project delivered with the Witney to Eynsham dual carriageway upgrades back on the table.

It was good to be back out with our Chesterton & Launton division Conservative by-election candidate Sandy Dallimore knocking on doors in a sunny Kirtlington this morning. A really positive response with lots of residents righty feeling let down by the Lib Dems and annoyed their current county councillor has quit!

Out with a brilliant team, telling residents what's at stake: this by-election could cost the Liberal Democrats their majority. Win here, and Conservatives get a stronger voice at County Hall, one that puts your priorities first, instead of Lib Dem pet projects in Oxford.

Only a few months ago, Oxfordshire County Council saw two Liberal Democrat councillors leave the party. One has since quietly rejoined, yet there are still unanswered questions about why he felt the need to leave in the first place.

Now, another Liberal Democrat councillor has resigned altogether. Former Cllr Will Boucher-Giles, who was only elected in May 2025 to represent Chesterton and Launton, has stepped down, meaning the Liberal Democrats have once again lost their majority on Oxfordshire County Council.

This level of political instability is simply not good enough. Oxfordshire deserves better than the chaos we've seen over recent months.

Most importantly, the residents of the Chesterton and Launton division deserve strong, consistent representation. Instead, they've been taken for granted by the Liberal Democrats.

I'm looking forward to supporting our Conservative candidate in the forthcoming by-election. We'll soon be announcing an excellent local candidate who is ready to work hard, stand up for residents and provide the representation this community deserves working with the Conservative team at County Hall at this crucial time.

🚨The Government has today confirmed that Oxfordshire's current council structure will be replaced with three new unitary authorities, bringing an end to the existing county and district council system.

While opinions will differ on the model that has been chosen, our priority is now to ensure this transition is delivered successfully and that residents remain at the heart of every decision.
