Last night, our team was called out to assist the Scottish Ambulance Service in gaining access to the Helicopter Landing site on the outskirts of the Village. The Ambulance crew had been attending a Medical Incident involving a local Resident who required urgent Hospital care. Due to the recent heavy Snowfall and deteriorating road conditions, the Coastguard Helicopter was requested to assist with the transfer.
Our Crews helped clear a significant amount of Snow to ensure the Patient could be safely transferred from the Road Ambulance to the awaiting Helicopter.
We would like to thank all the local Residents who came along to offer their support, your help greatly sped up the process.
Our thoughts are with the Patient, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.

We were pleased to be invited by the Grampian Moorland Group to engage with primary and secondary pupils from across the North East over the past few days.

Our goal was to raise awareness about our new Wildfire Unit based in Ballater, explaining the types of incidents we respond to, how Wildfires can start, and the potential consequences and impact these events can have on the Local Economy and particularly if someone is involved in causing one.

The sessions were highly interactive, with enthusiastic participation from both Pupils and Teachers, and a great deal of valuable information shared throughout.

A householder’s bonfire this afternoon jumped the garden into an area of naturally regenerating woodland and species rich grassland on Invercauld Estate near the River Dee. Thankfully, six members of Invercauld Estate staff attended, with specialist fire-fighting equipment and over 100 years of combined fire management experience, along with members of the local fire brigade. Given how dry the vegetation is at present, this combined experience, skill and mutual respect stopped what could have been a catastrophic fire and contained this to an area of only around half a hectare. Thanks to all Estate staff and members of the fire brigade who attended for their skill and expertise
