Great advice from our Rural Crime Team.

Unfortunately we are getting an increased number of reports in relation to this but also people allowing their dogs to go in the river during the hot weather to cool down.

Please bare in mind that if you allow your dog to go in the river where there are nests or ducklings nearby, this may have the same result in the ducklings being abandoned before they are ready.

🚨 Bird Lovers Beware 🚨

We’ve recently been made aware of bird watchers and wildlife enthusiasts getting too close to nests in order to take photographs.

Sadly, this has had a serious knock-on effect, with some birds abandoning their nests altogether.

This is deeply concerning. Disturbing nesting birds can cause stress, expose eggs or chicks to predators, and ultimately lead to breeding failure. Many of our native species are already under pressure, and these avoidable disturbances only add to the risk.

📸 Please remember:
Love them from a distance… or risk losing them completely.

If you see someone being suspicious or being too close to a nest then please report it to us. You can do this by:
☎️ Call 999 if this is happening at the time!
📞 101 non emergency
💻 Report online to https://orlo.uk/OMhXS

Respect wildlife, keep a safe distance, and help protect our birds for future generations. 🐦💚

During patrols today, officers issued tickets to these few vehicles for contravening the white line system on Main Road in Grindleford.

These vehicles had parked near a sign advising them of the offence by parking at the location and while there were spaces to park safely on the road or nearby.

Sadly, even with these signs in place motorists still commit offences putting themselves and other road users at risk.

This is the reason that the Safer Neighbourhood Team will continue to enforce the prohibition of parking at these locations where a white line system is present.

We all share the road, so let’s be responsible and park properly!

Rule 240 of the Highway Code says;
You MUST NOT stop or park on:
• The carriageway or hard shoulder of a motorway, except in an emergency
• A pedestrian crossing, including the area marked by white zig zag lines
• A clearway
• Taxi bays, as indicated by upright signs and road markings
• An Urban Clearway during its hours of operation, except to pick up or set down passengers
• A road marked with double white lines, even when the line nearer to you is broken

If you want to “Have your say” on the priorities, you wish us to look at then please complete the survey on the following link: https://orlo.uk/1rIvf
