☀️ A little kindness goes a long way in this heat.
While many of us can step into the shade or grab an iced drink, our recycling and waste crews are out there lifting, walking, and working through soaring temperatures to collect our recycling and waste and keep our communities running smoothly.
If you can, help them out by:
• making sure pathways are clear
• offering a cold bottle of water if you’re able
• keeping lids closed to reduce smells and flies
• giving a friendly wave or thank you 👋
These crews are doing a tough job in the hot weather. A smile and kind word can brighten a long, hot round. Thank you.

1 week of non recyclable waste (green bin) and 2 weeks of recyclables (blue and grey) ready for collection!

It takes just minimal commitment in keeping valuable recyclables away from that green bin.

Be that person and take the lead of all within your household in aiming for a cleaner, greener tomorrow!🫶

Granted, as a family of 5, it would be a free for all in our house if I didn't manage our waste! 🤣

Sunday is the only day we get to spend as a family through the stresses of that work/home life balance.

Sat around our dinner table, we talk, we laugh and our children still bicker (from random comments or debates that initiated sometime last week!) along with the obligatory 'I'm full' even before looking at a vegetable.

Yes, food is left but memories remain! 💚

No matter how little food waste we recycle today, we're all helping to make big differences for tomorrow!

Our first collection week saw RBC collect 30.5 tons of food waste, this was only 5 weeks ago.

This week, RBC collected just over 35 tons of food waste, thanks to the continued efforts and commitment from you!

Food waste? I think not, ❌

Food recycling? Absolutely!✅

Giving a little something back to Earth? Priceless! 🍗🫛🥕🌍

Yes, we may unintentionally miss a collection or two from time to time, but please do 'reach out' to us regards any queries!♻️🫶♻️

We hope you enjoyed your weekend!

A big 'win' for Rossendale for Thursday's food collection at 9420kg!

This is the most tonnage collected in a single day since we all started food recycling 4 weeks ago.

Yes, less food wasted the better, but now we each have the power and means to give back to Earth through our food waste recycling collections.

Ultimately this is converted into renewable energy and fertiliser through a process called anaerobic digestion over a period of around just 4 weeks!

Great efforts and fantastic work. 🌳❤️👏👏👏

Happy Friday! 🌞

Does anyone else get satisfaction out of a 'full house'? ♥️♣️♠️♦️

Each one serves their own purpose in helping to achieve a better tomorrow for us all! ♻️💚
....and we now accept Tetrapak and toothpaste tubes in our blue bin!🧃

If we can be of any assistance, then please do not hesitate to get in touch!📧📲☎️

We hope you had a fantastic bank holiday weekend!

Winning Wednesday!🏆

Who doesn't love a bit of number crunching?🧮 🟰 ➗

So far this week we have collected circa:

38,870 kg of Glass, Cans and Plastic. 🍾 🧴 🥫

31,800 kg of Paper and Card📰 🃏

14500 kg of food waste (recycling 😁)🍎 🍟 🍕 🥚

All from your valued efforts and commitment!🫶 🌍

Glass is 100% recyclable and can be processed infinitely without losing quality, making it a highly sustainable material. Recycling one tonne of glass saves over 1.2 tonnes of raw materials and reduces CO2 emissions by over 300kg. It is one of the few materials that can go from a recycling bin to a store shelf in as little as 30 days.

Plastic bottles can be "flaked" and turned into fleece jackets, t-shirts, and trainers.

Metal is highly recyclable and can be processed into new materials in as little as 6 weeks, in particular Aluminium is infinitely recyclable without losing quality, with roughly 75% of all aluminium ever produced still in use today.

It takes 70% less energy to recycle paper than it does to make it new from raw materials, saving our trees!🌳 🛡️
.. And of course, your newly introduced food waste collection, keeping food from landfill and avoiding those harmful greenhouse gasses being released, all whilst moving on as a source of renewable energy!

All of this being recycled by you, in order to help build a better tomorrow for us all!

As ever, please do get in touch with any queries, we're here to help.

Thursday or 'Thors day' and another thunderous innings from today's food waste (recycling) collection at 9280kg!⚡ ⚡ ⚡

Thus bringing the total amount of food waste harnessed for renewable energy conversion to 86.3 tons since implementing collections on 7th April, further reducing the reliance on fossil fuels for a greener, cleaner tomorrow! 💚🌍

In the spotlight for comparison today is Lenny. The spotty 'needy' shadow that seems permanently attached to me with invisible elastic day or night! 😂

At 86.3 tons, there would be 2397 of him, but let me assure you that he would happily shovel his way through that amount of food waste (recycling) alone!

Trouble is, although he's great at recycling infinite amounts of food waste, it ultimately ends up on landfill (in an unsavoury state 💩), leading to increasing amounts of methane!

Fortunately, he has never produced any food waste (only eats dog food) but if he did, then we could also add this to our caddy!

Enjoy the sunshine! ☀️😊
