🚨 Dont miss the Scam awareness van – Friday 19 June 🚨
The van will visit the following locations and officers from Trading Standards and Police Scotland will be on hand to offer advice on how to protect yourself from scammers and rogue traders. 🚐

📍 Dobbies, Ayr (9.30am–10.30am)
📍 Lochside Community Centre (11am–12pm)
📍 Carrick Centre, Maybole (12.30pm–1.30pm)
📍 Premier Store, Girvan (2pm–3pm)

As part of the Trading Standards Scotland ‘Shut Out Scammers’ 2026 campaign, officers from our Trading Standards and Police Scotland will be taking the 'scam van' on the road on Friday 19 June.

The van will visit the following locations and officers will be on hand to offer advice on how to protect yourself from scammers and rogue traders.

🌟 A Busy Few Weeks at Girvan Library! 📚✨

We’ve had a fantastic time at Girvan Library recently, with a great mix of creativity, imagination, and inspiring events for our community to enjoy!

📅 Here’s what we’ve been up to:
⚽ World Cup Crafts – Saturday 13 June
📖 Author Talk with Catherine Czerkawska – Saturday 6th June
🎭 Imagination Workshop with Gillian Spiller – Saturday 30 May
🖍️ Imagination Crafts – Saturday 30 May

From hands-on craft sessions (including some brilliant World Cup creations ⚽ and imaginative artwork 🎨) to engaging workshops, it’s been wonderful to see so many people taking part.

A highlight was welcoming Catherine Czerkawska, in collaboration with the Girvan & District Writing Group, for an inspiring talk—offering a great opportunity to hear from a talented author and pick up ideas and insights into writing 📖

As a result, it’s currently taking an unscheduled rest day and won’t be visiting:

📍 Dundonald (Parish Church | Auchans Ave | Primary School)

We’re hoping it pulls itself together soon (and keeps all parts attached 🤞), but for now we won’t be on the road today.

What a fantastic year it has been since we opened our doors in the Troon Municipal Buildings! We’re delighted to celebrate our first anniversary providing some wonderful events and activities to bring our community together. 🫂

Families joined us for a fun-filled session exploring technology, creativity, and hands-on learning. It was great to see so many young minds (and the adults) engaged and inspired!

We were pleased to welcome the Troon Family History Society, who delivered an insightful talk on researching your Scottish ancestry. Visitors enjoyed learning how to trace their roots, followed by tea, chat, and practical guidance from Society members.
💡 Don’t forget—the Society offers drop-in family history advice in the library most Tuesday mornings!

🗣️ Bill Rogers Presentation 📜
Bill Rogers captivated us with a fascinating talk exploring the meanings behind familiar phrases and sayings—proving there’s always something new to learn at your local library.
