Planning transparency matters — and we'd never take it away.

Liberal Democrats believe in open, transparent local government — and we would never remove a public right without consulting the people it affects.

In March 2025, Buckinghamshire Council quietly removed public comments from planning applications with no consultation with residents, Parish Councils, or local councillors. Other councils across the country continue to publish comments without any legal barrier, so there's no good reason Buckinghamshire can't do the same.

Please sign and share this petition asking them to start publishing them again:

**Every Full Council. Every time. We ask the questions the Conservatives don't want to answer.**

They call it yesterday's news.
Well, it's only yesterday's news because we keep raising the same issues — secret asset sales, crumbling roads, cabinet papers hidden from the public — and they keep failing to fix them.

As Susan put it last week: residents want "transparency, not a magic act where assets vanish and scrutiny gets sawn in half."

Stop failing residents. Start publishing the papers.

The leader of Buckinghamshire Council has defended his administration’s record after a heated exchange with the Liberal Democrat opposition.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the fire at Lynx Gym this morning. Lynx has long been one of Aylesbury’s most valued community assets — a place that has nurtured generations of young people and supported athletes all the way to Olympic gold. Today will be an incredibly difficult day for many children, parents and staff.

As a community, we stand ready to support Lynx in every way we can. Their contribution to Aylesbury is extraordinary, and we will work together to ensure they are able to recover and reopen as swiftly as possible.

Working across the region, standing up for our residents

My colleagues and I have written to the Prime Minister requesting his support for the Water Industry Act 1991 (Amendment) (Payment of Fines) Bill.

This Bill removes the provision of the 1991 Act which enables water companies to use appeals to subvert fines.

Last year, Thames Water were fined over £120m by Ofwat after they breached rules on wastewater operations and dividend payments. Ofwat granted them a delayed payment plan moving the due date from August 2025 to 31 March 2030.
Meanwhile Thames Water continue to harm communities and individuals, polluting waterways and further increasing bills.

The prime minister must support this legislation so that water companies stop getting away with their crimes.

A Reform Councillor is using unbecoming language in a post today regarding the disappointing vote cast by the Aylesbury MP on the Mandelson scandal.

Personally, we think maybe he and his colleague (photo for illustration purposes) should concentrate on actually turning up to council meetings instead of following in the footsteps of the long missing Clacton MP.

The Labour government is backing the Lib Dem plan to cut your energy bills. 🏆

Nationally the Lib Dems are winning the argument on energy costs, but here in Buckinghamshire the Conservative council is fighting to go in the opposite direction.

Just this month, Lib Dem and Independent councillors proposed a simple, practical motion to help some of our residents: require solar panels and battery storage on new homes across Buckinghamshire.

Lower bills. Cleaner energy. Future-proofed homes.

The Conservative administration knew that this would be a step in the right direction for residents.

They voted it down anyway.

Aylesbury is gridlocked this morning.

Every major route in and out of town is affected. The Tories will blame HS2 — don't be fooled. Gas works, water repairs and road closures don't coordinate themselves. That's what a transport cabinet member is for.

Years of Tory cuts created this chaos. Cllr Broom and council leader Steve Broadbent own it.

Aylesbury deserves better.
