Our popular event '“Christmas in the Square” is returning but this year with a new name “Fairford Leys’ Christmas”. Like any tradition it slowly changes over the years, and we think this new title better describes the event as it has made greater use of both the Square and Community Centre in the past few years.

This year’s event is on Saturday 12th December 2026 from 3.30pm to 6.30pm, held in Hampden Square and the Fairford Leys Community Centre. It’s a while away yet, but it’s the time to put it in your diary, or apply for a stall as bookings are open!

🎁 Christmas Gift and Craft Fair.

Our Gift and Craft fair returns this year, which significantly expanded last year with two halls and over 20 stands. The Gift and Craft Fair is held in the Community Centre, so it is protected from the seasons weather. Our local WI are back, serving festive food and drinks, a great choice whilst you browse the locally produced gift and crafts, many of which come from small businesses based in Fairford Leys.

🧑‍🎄 Santa comes to the village in a BIG way.

Our event wouldn’t be complete without the big man himself, Santa. In partnership with KM Commercials this year Santa will arrive (around 4pm) on a huge truck decorated in festive lights. After parking (in an extra-large parking space in the Square) Santa will make his way inside to his Grotto. He will then be available to meet children throughout the afternoon to the end of the event.

This event like others is planned and organised by a team made up of your Parish Councillors, who volunteer their time to support their community. As always there is no admission charge to this event, and we hope to see you there!

We along with your Aylesbury West Neighbourhood Policing team would like to remind residents to make sure their vehicles are always left locked without valuables on display. Fairford Leys has a very low crime rate but our area is targeted by opportunist thieves looking for unlocked vehicles late at night.

Each theft from an unlocked vehicle not only causes distress for the owner but also increases car and home insurance premiums for our postcodes so please “Don't give thieves an easy ride!”.

We are pleased to share that the new play park at Swallow Lane has now opened. The park opened on Saturday morning and was an instant hit with children of all ages. By Saturday afternoon every piece of equipment was being used and the park certainly had the children's “seal of approval”. The park features two adventure towers, one for toddlers and one for children, an adventure trail which tests balance and climbing skills, sensory activities, swings including a team swing and the rota-bounce and balance wire for older children.

We plan to hold a formal opening and celebration in a few weeks time, so look out for details of how to join in.

If you have been following the progress of this park, you will be aware that this park took far longer than any of us expected to be completed. Initially we suffered delays due to prolonged rain making the ground unsuitable for work. Then ironically the extraordinary prolonged hot and dry weather resulted in further delays and changes to our plans too, like the change from grass to bark chippings below the Adventure Trail. We think the final park is worth the wait but of course we would have liked to have this open sooner and we will learn from this project when developing future plans.

Music in the Square is today from 5pm with our first band Iridescence taking the stage at 6pm.

Expect a brilliant atmosphere, supported by a great value community run Bar 🍺 and BBQ 🍔 .

Our headliner ⭐ Camino ⭐ returns with a crowd pleasing party set. Camino will be supported by Lucky Number 🎲 making their debut with a set full of rock, punk and indie classics. Iridescence 🎸 will also be joining us for the first time, playing classic rock anthems. Music all kicks off from 5pm with a DJ set, all in Hampden Square on Saturday 5th September.

Many of our local businesses will be getting involved too, so expect event special offers and extended opening hours.

This free to attend event is organised and run by Coldharbour Parish Council for the residents of Fairford Leys, their family and friends. Come along, bring a chair or two and claim your spot for this much loved evening of entertainment.

We are aware of the delay in completing the new Swallow Lane Play Park and we are also frustrated and let down that the play park has been out of action for so long. We are pushing our contractor to finish the work as soon as possible after encountering numerous delays. We are now waiting on the all weather surfacing to be laid and then the final health and safety checks of the play equipment.

In the meantime we would like to ask residents to make sure their children are not entering the fenced off area as this is classed as a construction site and is not safe.

Do remember we do have six other play parks across Fairford Leys which are open, along with lots of recreational space, all to enjoy within a short walk of this park.

Thank you for your patience and understanding and we do hope to have this park open again soon.
