We are pleased to share that the new play park at Swallow Lane has now opened. The park opened on Saturday morning and was an instant hit with children of all ages. By Saturday afternoon every piece of equipment was being used and the park certainly had the children's “seal of approval”. The park features two adventure towers, one for toddlers and one for children, an adventure trail which tests balance and climbing skills, sensory activities, swings including a team swing and the rota-bounce and balance wire for older children.
We plan to hold a formal opening and celebration in a few weeks time, so look out for details of how to join in.
If you have been following the progress of this park, you will be aware that this park took far longer than any of us expected to be completed. Initially we suffered delays due to prolonged rain making the ground unsuitable for work. Then ironically the extraordinary prolonged hot and dry weather resulted in further delays and changes to our plans too, like the change from grass to bark chippings below the Adventure Trail. We think the final park is worth the wait but of course we would have liked to have this open sooner and we will learn from this project when developing future plans.
