✨Bake Sale Fun!✨

This week, we are holding a bake sale on Monday and Tuesday to raise money for our chosen charity, Thomley Hall, a fantastic local charity that supports people with a wide range of disabilities.

This morning, our babies had a wonderful time making delicious cheese scones 🧀 and fruit scones 🍇. They took turns pouring the ingredients into the bowl and helping to mix everything together😊. The children were fully engaged and loved being involved in the baking process.

🌟This morning in the Baby Room, we made sensory bottles! We used a variety of resources, including dried lentils, pasta, rice, and bubble mixture.🫧

The babies had lots of fun scooping and pouring the different materials into their sensory bottles. This activity helped to develop their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. 🤲

Once the bottles were finished, the babies enjoyed shaking them and listening to the different sounds they made. They were fascinated by the colours, movements, and noises inside the bottles! 🌟

Busy fingers, budding writers!

Using tweezers and their fingers, the preschoolers worked hard to free the bugs from the web, developing their fine motor skills, hand strength, and coordination along the way.

Fine motor activities like this help children strengthen the small muscles in their hands and fingers, which are essential for holding pencils, controlling marks, and developing the skills needed for successful writing.

After the rescue, the children extended their learning through early writing activities, making marks, drawing pictures, and attempting to write the names of the bugs they had saved. ✏️📚

This morning, the babies explored dinosaurs, bubble wrap, and paint. They stomped the dinosaurs through the paint and across the bubble wrap, making colourful footprints as they moved. The babies also enjoyed popping the bubble wrap, exploring different textures and listening to the fun popping sounds! 🦖👣🫧

Today was a very special day at Preschool as we released the butterflies we have lovingly cared for and watched grow from tiny caterpillars. 🦋

The children were amazed to see the final stage of the life cycle and excited to set the butterflies free into the world. Watching them flutter away was a wonderful learning experience and a memorable moment for everyone.

To make the day even more special, one of our children took on the role of photographer, capturing the event from the children's perspective- please see the last two photos!

This morning the babies had lots of fun exploring water play.💦They used different coloured containers to scoop and pour water from the tray, helping to develop their curiosity and coordination. They also enjoyed moving the boats around the water and watching them float.🚤

A huge THANK YOU to all of our wonderful families who supported our recent Ready Steady Read/Listen event 📖🌈

With the money raised we have been able to purchase a fantastic selection of brand new Usborne books for the children to enjoy across the nursery!

We are SO excited to share these with the children and continue developing their love of books. Thank you again for helping us create such exciting reading opportunities for our little learners ✨

We went on a number and letter hunt around the village! 🔎🔤🔢

Preschool had so much fun spotting numbers and letters in the environment, helping to build their recognition skills while exploring the world around them. From house numbers to shop signs, there were lots of exciting discoveries along the way!

We also practised our road safety skills, learning how to stay safe near roads, stop at crossings, and walk sensibly together. The children did a fantastic job listening carefully to instructions and showing great awareness throughout our walk. 🌟

Happy Bee Day! 🐝🌼

What a buzzing and exciting day we’ve had here at Tiny Acorns! The nursery has been filled with lots of bee-themed fun from start to finish, and the children have absolutely loved every activity!

In Pre-School, the children got creative by painting with pasta to make their very own bright and beautiful bumble bees. They were so excited watching their colourful creations come to life and proudly showing them to their friends! The fun didn’t stop there — the children also went on a special bee rescue hunt in the water tray. Using tweezers and their amazing fine motor skills, they carefully rescued all the little bees, showing fantastic concentration and teamwork throughout the activity.

In Toddlers, the children had a fantastic time creating their own bumble bees using paint dabbers. There were lots of giggles and excitement as they explored the different colours and patterns to decorate their bees. The toddlers were so proud of their artwork and loved talking about their creations with staff and friends. We have also started learning a brand new bee-themed song today, and the toddlers have thoroughly enjoyed joining in with the words and actions — there was lots of singing, dancing, and smiling all around the room!

Throughout the day, the children have been learning all about bumble bees, why they are so important to our world, and how they help flowers and plants grow. It has been such a lovely day full of creativity, exploration, and hands-on learning. 🐝💛🌻

🍋💦 The babies have been exploring lemons and water! They used different utensils, including scoops and spoons, to scoop, pour, and splash the water.

The babies were curious to explore the different textures of the lemons and were very brave when it came to tasting them too! 🍋 Some babies loved the sour flavour, while others pulled some very funny faces!
