We've had a great day today at the Hughenden Gardens Village Health and Wellbeing event with TVP Wycombe. We met lots of lovely people and were able to share with them our top tips for crime prevention and scam awareness.

The World Cup is a time to come together and celebrate football, but it’s important to remember how our behaviour affects others too.

Anti-social behaviour includes things like excessive noise, vandalism, intimidation, aggressive behaviour, littering, or alcohol-related disorder. These actions can cause distress, damage local areas, and spoil events for families, residents, businesses and fellow fans.

✅ Be respectful of people around you
✅ Look after public spaces
✅ Keep noise to a reasonable level, especially late at night
✅ Plan travel safely and follow local rules
✅ Drink responsibly

If something doesn’t feel right, it’s important to act:
📞 In an emergency, always call 999
📞 For non-emergencies, you can report concerns via 101 or Crimestoppers: 0800 500 111

Let’s make the World Cup memorable for the right reasons.

The World Cup starts today ⚽

Football tournaments bring with them heightened emotions; the elation of a win or the frustration of a loss, increased alcohol and drug consumption while gambling on games and plays further raises the stakes.

We know this can aggravate behaviour.

We believe abuse has no place.

In relationships, at home, at work, or in our communities.

Together, let’s on abuse this World Cup.

Blowing the whistle means:

👉 Noticing when something isnʼt right
👉 Calling out abusive behaviour
👉 Checking in and showing care
👉 Making support visible and accessible

If you experience any kind of abuse throughout the World Cup, Victims First is here for you.

Contact our team on 0300 1234 148 or via live chat on our website for support. We are open Monday-Thursday 9am-6pm and Friday 9am-4.30pm. You can also make a referral for support outside these times on our website.

We are gearing up for the FIFA Men’s World Cup 2026, taking place from 11 June to 19 July in Canada, Mexico and the USA.

With England’s group stage matches confirmed for 17, 23 and 27 June – and potentially more to come – we know many people will be coming together to watch and celebrate. You can expect to see officers out across the Thames Valley, particularly on match days, as we work to keep everyone safe.

We’re working closely with partners and local venues to support a positive atmosphere, encourage responsible drinking, and deal quickly with any issues that arise. Most people celebrate responsibly, and we want everyone to enjoy the tournament safely.

However, we also know that during major sporting events there can be an increase in incidents such as anti-social behaviour and, sadly, domestic abuse. If you’re worried about yourself or someone else, please remember you are not alone and support is available.

Our officers are on hand 24/7, and we will also be carrying out additional checks to support those who may be more vulnerable.
👉 If you’re in immediate danger, call 999 (press 55 if you can’t speak)
👉 For non-emergencies, contact us on 101 or via our website

We’re asking everyone to play their part:
✅ Look out for friends, family and neighbours
✅ Drink responsibly
✅ Plan ahead for getting home safely

Let’s work together to make this a safe, enjoyable tournament for everyone ⚽️🙌

✍️ Share your views on proposed police force mergers

Our survey is your opportunity to share your views on the Government's proposal to merge police forces across England and Wales, and the impact this will have on local policing in the Thames Valley.

This follows a letter Matthew Barber has sent to the Home Secretary today, setting out his concerns on the Police Reform White Paper.

The government is currently carrying out an Independent Review of Police Force Structures, having confirmed its intention to merge the current 43 forces across England and Wales into larger regional forces as part of reforms.

We don’t yet know what this means for Thames Valley Police as it will be dependent on the outcome of the review.

However, if forces are reduced to 12 regional forces Thames Valley could become part of a larger regional South East force.

We are excited to host a talk on Scam Awareness, presented by the Trading Standards Scam Champion, on Tuesday, 23rd June.

Fraudsters do not discriminate; they target anyone. No one is immune to fraud. The criminals behind these schemes often reach out to people both online and at home, using emotional manipulation to steal money or personal information from their victims.

However, there are steps we can take to protect ourselves. By staying vigilant and taking a moment to stop, think, and check whenever we are approached, we can help safeguard ourselves and each other from fraud.

Date: Tuesday, 23rd June
Time: 10:30am - 12:00pm
Venue: St Mary’s Church, Aylesbury

Open to all!
