We hope everyone is enjoying the outdoors at Rothiemurchus. With the current dry conditions and a wildfire warning in place, we are asking everyone to take extra care.

Earlier this week, we dealt with a fire at Lochan Mòr. Thankfully, it was contained quickly, and the site will continue to be monitored for flare-ups over the coming weeks.

Our experienced ranger team is out daily, chatting to and welcoming visitors and looking after Rothiemurchus, but we all have a part to play in preventing wildfires. If you see smoke or any sign of fire, please call 999 immediately.

Please continue to come and enjoy Rothiemurchus responsibly. By taking care, we can ensure this incredible landscape remains safe for wildlife, local communities and visitors alike.

If you're nearby for one of our activities or a walk or cycle, stop into the Farm Shop and pick up one of these wonderful ice creams, the perfect way to cool down on a warm day. You can also have lunch at The Barn cafe or pick up something good to eat for a picnic.

The Farm Shop and The Barn cafe are both open daily.

Thanks to an alert from Rothie Cabins and quick action from Peter Ferguson, our biodiversity manager, the Rothiemurchus ranger team, Kinveachy Estate gamekeepers and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, a fire near Lochan Mor that could have expanded into a forest fire has been brought under control.

The danger is not over and the fire will continue to be doused for at least the next 12 hours, with continual monitoring for the next few weeks. We are extremely grateful to everyone involved in preventing a large forest fire.

Dreich days call for comfort food! Head to The Barn cafe at Rothiemurchus for a hearty breakfast or a wholesome lunch. Or sample the team's delicious baking with a great cup of coffee.

Then pop into the Farm Shop where you can pick up some shopping to create a tasty dinner at home. Our home-reared beef is excellent and the team are on hand to talk you through some great new local and Scottish produce that has recently arrived on the shelves.

🐾 Both the Farm Shop and The Barn cafe are dog-friendly and open seven days a week.
