There has been an announcement of a devolution deal between the Government, Lincs County Council, North Lincs Council and North East Lincs Council – the area known as Greater Lincolnshire.

Devolution will result in a Greater Lincolnshire Mayoral Combined County Authority (MCCA) with the first mayoral elections to be held in 2025.

LCC, North Lincs and North East Lincs have agreed and adopted the Greater Lincolnshire Devolution Proposal. A consultation with residents is underway to get their views before deciding whether to submit the proposal to government either in its current form or an amended version. The consultation closes on January 29.

The deal would transfer new powers and funding to Greater Lincolnshire MCCA, alongside a £720 million long-term investment fund (spread over 30 years) to drive economic growth and local priorities.

The deal also includes £8.6 million of investment in brownfield funding, devolution of the Adult Education Budget, and £28 million of capital funding in advance of the mayoral election to drive economic regeneration in Greater Lincolnshire (subject to business cases).

The video by Cllr Richard Wright, NKDC explains the processes and outlines his belief in the devolution process.

You will also find in the comments section links for more information including how to get involved in the consultation process. This is every resident’s chance to put forward their views on the deal so please do get involved.

In this video Cllr Richard Wright, explains more about Devolution for Greater Lincolnshire.
