A Town Councillor Surgery is being held on Saturday 19th September 2026 from 9.30am to 12 noon on Queens Square.

The aim of the surgery is to give residents an opportunity to come along, talk to their Town Councillors and have an informal chat about any issues, ideas or suggestions they may have relating to Attleborough.

WORK BEGINS ON NEW TRIM TRAILS AT BLACKTHORN ROAD

New accessible recreation facilities will be created on both sides of the public open space.

The Town Council is pleased to confirm that installation has begun on two new trim trails, one on each side of Blackthorn Road.

The improvements to the Blackthorn Road Public Open Space are being funded through Section 106 contributions secured from nearby developments.

Each side of the open space will benefit from:

• A surfaced access path;
• Two wheelchair-accessible picnic benches;
• A litter bin and cycle rack;
• Six linked pieces of trim trail equipment with safety matting below; and
• A children's mini fort.

The funding has also provided a new footpath link from Lavender Close into the public open space, together with surfaced access aprons in areas of excessive wear. Further improvements include replacement fencing made from recycled plastic and additional litter and dog-waste bins.

The fencing and surfacing works were completed earlier in the summer. Installation of the new trim trails is expected to take up to two weeks.

These improvements will make the open space more accessible and provide new opportunities for children, families and residents to enjoy outdoor recreation.

Vera Dale

Attleborough Town Council has today flown the flag at half-mast in recognition of the passing of one of the town's most recognisable stalwarts, Vera Dale. The news of her passing earlier today was received with great sadness and on behalf of the Town Council, Town Mayor Cllr Malcolm Burrows expressed his deepest condolences to Vera's family.
He said "Vera Dale made a long-standing and significant contribution to the community of Attleborough through many years of public and voluntary service. She served as a Town Mayor and councillor, as well as representing Attleborough on Breckland Council. Throughout her years of public service, she took a keen interest in issues affecting local residents and was committed to improving the town and supporting its community.
Vera was involved in a wide range of local matters, including education, youth services, the environment, town development and community facilities. She also contributed to the work of the Attleborough Neighbourhood Plan and worked with local schools and community organisations.
Her community involvement extended beyond elected office, including her work with the Attleborough branch of the Royal British Legion, reflecting her commitment to the town and its residents.
Vera will be remembered for her dedication, community spirit and the considerable time and energy she gave to Attleborough over many years. Her contribution to the life of the town has left a lasting legacy, and she will be greatly missed by those who knew her and by the wider community she served."
Vera's years of service and dedication were recently recognised when Attleborough Town Council awarded her the title of Honorary Alderwoman.
The flag will be flown again at half-mast on the day of her funeral.

Breckland Council are once again bringing Outdoor Cinema to Attleborough this summer at the Recreation Ground on Tuesday 25th August 2026 with screenings of Puss in Boots at 3pm & Mamma Mia at 6pm.

Love Your Market Town Grant
🏘️ Could your idea help bring more people into our town centre?
The Love Your Market Town Grant is now open for ideas that can help make Norfolk's high streets more vibrant, attractive and welcoming. 💡
Grants of £1,000 to £5,000 are available and can fund up to 100% of eligible project costs.
🌟 What could the funding support?
There are no restrictions on the type of activity, provided the project is a new idea that helps create interest in our town centre or increase footfall.
Projects could aim to:
📍 Bring more visitors into the town
🛍️ Increase town-centre footfall and the time people spend there
🎉 Introduce new ideas, events or experiences
🤝 Attract new audiences and diversify what's on offer
✨ Improve the experience for residents and visitors
Applications are welcome from the town council, local groups and businesses.
💷 How much can you apply for?
£1,000–£5,000, with grants able to cover up to 100% of eligible project costs.
Projects should ideally be completed by 31 March 2027, although longer-term projects can run until 31 December 2027.

⚠️ Things to know before applying
Projects cannot include:
❌ Costs incurred before a grant offer is made
❌ VAT where it is recoverable
❌ General operating costs
❌ Improvements benefiting a private individual or private assets
Successful applicants must initially fund the project themselves and claim the grant once the project is completed. Projects must demonstrate value for money, with at least one quote required for each contract.
If planning permission or another licence is required, this must be confirmed before applying.
